Job Description

Position Summary:

As the hands-on Manager of User Experience overseeing the Catalog experience you will be responsible for leading a small team of UX designers defining the end to end shopping funnel and ensuring the seamless interaction of our customers with our digital products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product Management Development Marketing and Customer Support to deliver user-centric solutions that drive engagement conversion and customer satisfaction.

Location: This role is US-based remote with a strong preference for someone located in the Pacific time zone. Occasional travel to our Southern California office might be required.

Job Expectations:

  • Lead mentor and inspire a team of UX designers fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

  • Be a player-coach who can also do hands-on design when needed

  • Prioritize and execute the overall UX strategy for our e-commerce platforms ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.

  • When needed assist with research usability testing and user journey mapping to gain insights and identify opportunities for improving the user experience.

  • Translate user insights and business requirements into user-centered design solutions considering user interface design interaction design and visual design principles.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Developers to ensure the successful implementation of design solutions while maintaining a balance between user needs technical constraints and business objectives.

  • Collaborate with the design system team help define guidelines and standards to ensure a consistent and cohesive user experience across all platforms and touchpoints.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends emerging technologies and best practices in UX/UI design and e-commerce to drive continuous improvement.

  • Advocate for user-centered design principles throughout the organization fostering a user-centric mindset and creating a culture of design excellence.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design Human-Computer Interaction Information Architecture or a related field; or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience with 1-3 years in leading UX/UI design teams ideally within the e-commerce or digital product space.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing successful mobile UX/UI projects highlighting your ability to solve complex design challenges and create user-friendly solutions.

  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma or similar tools.

  • In-depth knowledge of user-centered design processes methodologies and best practices.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills including the ability to inspire mentor and guide a diverse team of designers.

  • Familiarity with front-end development principles and collaboration with development teams.

  • A strategic mindset with the ability to balance user needs business goals and technical constraints.

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in a global or multicultural e-commerce environment.

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines (WCAG) for creating inclusive digital experiences.

  • Experience with data-driven design and A/B testing methodologies.
