What You'll Do:
As a Traeger UX Product Designer you will be focused on understanding and designing a consistent user experience across our multi-modal digital product touch points (on-product controls and digital app). Employing your user-centered design philosophy and multi-disciplinary design skillset, you will work alongside Product Management, Design, Engineering, and Marketing team members to deeply understand opportunity space, user behavior, product requirements & constraints and translate them into thoughtful, seamless digital experiences across platforms. The Design practice at Traeger is very hands-on; UX designers will work closely with designers and developers to generate concepts, create prototypes, and test experiences. You will be a member of the Traeger Digital Product Design team that both envisions & commercializes new-to-market, world-class product and also seeks to maximize return on and efficiency of existing Traeger experiences. We work to cultivate an open culture of collaboration within the Design Team by embracing a safe environment that fosters creativity and the free flow of ideas.
How You Will Help Us Win:
- Assist in product development utilizing core design skillset including storytelling, journey mapping, information architecture, wireframe, ui, prototype development, design research/validation, and an impressive overall design sensibility.
- Drive creation & maintenance of shared Traeger Design System standards with components that are ADA compliant, platform-sensitive, and internationalized.
- Represent the user’s perspective with integrity and prioritize their needs across projects that can span the entire Traeger consumer journey (from purchase to cooking to inspiration and support).
- Assist in planning, conducting, and synthesizing of primary quantitative and qualitative research, including exploratory concept research, usability testing, and concept validation.
- Create user stories, archetypes, journey maps, and visual frameworks to inform and align product vision, strategy, and teams.
- Build wireframes, lo-fi/hi-fi prototypes, and final assets that span both on-product and digital modalities.
- Exude strong communication and time management skillset with ability to evaluate project needs, execute activities, and communicate expectations regarding project deliverables.
- Be a thought leader who sees above the trees to stay focused goals and opportunities while also acting as a practitioner who applies design principles and best practices to build engaging customer experiences that solve objectives with elegant simplicity.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) UX/UI Design, Industrial Design, Human Factors or related field.
- 2+ years of professional UX or Product Design experience; ideal candidates have experience in physical consumer product interface design, IoT or hardware/firmware interactions experience.
- Experience developing wireframes, flows, prototypes, frameworks, and interface designs for frontend production using tools like Figma, Framer, Sketch, or Invision.
- Experience building and maintaining design systems, standards, and component usage documentation.
- Knowledge of industrial design/mechanical engineering, firmware/IoT development, and iOS/Android app development in relation to understanding what is possible and what will be hard to achieve and/or implement in an on-product or mobile app environment.
- An online portfolio of that demonstrates unfailing advocacy for the user, physical or digital design work, data driven analytical decision-making, and strategic thinking.
- Strong cross-functional communication and storytelling skills that build stakeholder confidence in the ability of proposed designs to achieve user and business goals.
- Openness to testing anything that has a reasonable hypothesis with a growth mindset and internal drive to stay abreast of competitor landscape, industry trends, and new tools.
- Interest in gaining professional exposure to cooking and/or IoT use cases or exposure to generative user research, design validation, or usability analysis.
