Job Description

THE ROLE


As PlayOn’s UX Researcher, you will work with product managers, designers, and developers to identify and prioritize research opportunities that satisfy both business and user goals. You will work with stakeholders across functions and levels and have an impact at all stages of product development. You will explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting strategic-level research such as field studies, interviews, participatory workshops, ethnography, surveys, and usability testing; the results of which play a critical role in defining product direction and creating useful, usable, and delightful products. Using mixed research methods to plan and execute studies, you will help drive empathy and understanding of user goals, needs, attitudes, and behaviors. You will translate user research findings into insights and design improvements and ensure research insights are incorporated into product and design decisions. As a champion of UX research, you will spearhead the culture of research and continuous research value across the company.


Additional responsibilities and accountabilities for this role could include:


• Actively identify strategic and tactical research opportunities across business areas, then size and prioritize research needs to meet deadlines

• Manage multiple types of research projects across the business areas

• Participate in quarterly planning sessions to represent UX Research and create product-led research roadmaps

• Design and conduct innovative, robust, inclusive studies that balance diverse research methods (qualitative/quantitative, behavioral/attitudinal, generative/evaluative) within the appropriate scope.

• Conduct both strategic and tactical level research and represent findings as the voice of the user

• Compile and deliver research findings into actionable insights

• Visualize research findings into impactful artifacts


THE PERSON


• Bachelor’s or professional degree in human-computer interaction (HCI),

• 3-5+ years working as a UX researcher in a fast-paced environment

• Demonstrable experience planning and executing research

• Proven competency in data analytics and qualitative aspects of UX research

• Master’s or professional degree in human-computer interaction (HCI), psychology, anthropology, sociology, or related field

• Advanced demonstrated ability in leading evaluative research activities such as usability testing, heuristics evaluations, surveys, and clickstream analysis

• Ability to conduct A/B and multi-variate testing

• Proven ability to implement appropriate and effective qualitative research method
