OVERVIEW

We're looking for a passionate UX Writer to help us build inclusive, human-centered experiences for our customers. Your writing and content design will create meaningful digital experiences that show a deep understanding and appreciation for customers' unique lives and situations. WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will be part of an award-winning User Experience (UX) team that's leading the charge for our continued digital transformation. You'll oversee the writing and editing within our digital portals, as well as emails, letters, microcopy, and other communications throughout the customer journey.

This job is all about writing in a clear and conversational style. You need to know how to write in a way that captures attention and communicates clearly. You might have a background in advertising, copywriting, communications, journalism, or design. You'll need to be able to translate technical and financial jargon and concepts into simple, relevant, relatable language. You should be able to understand and apply some core UX principles and tools. And you should have good instincts on what excellent customer experiences look like. Knowledge of insurance and financial services is not essential, but you will be expected over time to learn about our products and unique place in the market.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write and edit original copy for assigned digital products and workflows
  • Participate in and contribute copywriting input to design reviews, working sessions, Community of Practice and related design activities
  • Understand and apply basic concepts of marketing, User Experience, and digital strategy
  • Maintain a current list of projects and ongoing work, and review regularly with manager
  • Respond quickly to questions and requests from digital and line of business teams to keep digital deliveries on track.
  • Incorporate feedback from Director of UX and other team members on ways to improve and alter copy
  • Review written work to:
    • Ensure brand-specific style is consistent throughout jobs
    • Enforce consistency with style, tone and focus

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A team player who thrives on collaboration
  • A familiarity UX Writing, digital copywriting and content strategy concepts
  • Familiarity with different aspects of experience design, such as visual design, design systems management, user experience, customer experience, interaction design, or information architecture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to articulate a strong rationale for content decisions
  • Good organization and time management skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$57,900-$86,800
