Primary Purpose:

Responsible for the ARUP Innovation division growth initiatives and bridge the go-to-market activities with the Business Development division. Develop, implement and execute strategic innovation projects and commercialization plans targeted towards new and existing market segments to achieve corporate objectives in support of the mission of the organization and consistent with organizational policies and procedures. Direct innovation project pipeline activities and set performance goals accordingly. Project the mission, vision and values of ARUP.

Essential Functions:

Achieves an internal collaborative pipeline of strategic partnerships and projects to augment existing business as well as generate net new market segments generating revenue and margin.

Works closely with business development to understand client collaboration, partnership, and product opportunities.

Analyzes healthcare market and trends to identify future opportunity. Analyzes competitor market activities and effectively uses resulting information in business decision making.

Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.

Collaborates with business development, marketing, product management, and sales to execute go-to-market strategies and accelerates client and prospect adoption.

Develops strategies and / or tactics in conjunction with business development to capitalize on executed innovation projects, products, and services. Develops clear and concise value proposition.

Provides effective leadership and decision-making to the innovation team.

Oversees and directs contractual negotiations between affected projects and partnerships to maintain the corporate mission and strategy while protecting intellectual property and proprietary data. Adjudicates any differences to assure success.

Communicates effectively, assuring the coordination of innovation activities with those in business development, marketing, operations, executive leadership, and any other affected area(s) of the organization.

Assures compliance with all company-wide policies, procedures and standards of practice. Assures compliance with all relevant regulatory and legal requirements including, but not limited to, the ARUP Corporate Compliance Plan.

Prepares and presents periodic summary reports to the President and Chief Scientific Officer and, when requested, to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

Develops and controls an annual expense budget for division areas. Addresses significant variances in a timely and effective manner to assure the financial success of the organization.

Develops an annual strategic plan for innovation projects which supports the strategic priorities of the organization as set by President and Chief Scientific Officer, Chief Business Development Officer and the Executive Committee.

Prepares annual performance appraisals of all direct reports. Assures that all responsible managers complete annual performance appraisals of their direct reports.

Oversees both departmental and individual progress and intervenes effectively when objectives are not met.

Analyzes the success of innovation departments products, projects, and activities.

Identifies, coaches and mentors' managers within the department to assure effective career development and succession planning.

Maintains open and effective communication within the innovation department, business development, and with all internal customers of ARUP.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical and Other Requirements:

Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Communicate: Frequently and effectively communicate with others.

PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.

ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.

Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Travel: Ability to travel 30% of time.
