Value Engineer

Description
Responsible for both leadership and engineering execution of projects to enhance the value of Franklin's Electric's global product portfolio. This may include but is not limited to projects involving product design, processes, and supply chain improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering execution role for Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) projects
- Designs, validates, and supports current and new products for cost reduction and value management
- Lead VA/VE Workshops utilizing the VA/VE tool set
- Identification of value improvement opportunities via cross-functional team collaboration and costed bill of material analysis tools
- Lead benchmark activities comparing both competitive products and products produced at multiple Franklin Electric facilities
- Provide value engineering support for new product development and VIP projects
- Provide project leadership for VA/VE projects by coordinating efforts of cross functional teams
- Develops new designs to achieve increased product value
- Track and report VA/VE projects status
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Ability to conduct cost structure analysis, product cost optimization, cost driver analysis, and target costing
- Familiar with Value Engineering methods and techniques
- Ability to develop and execute product validation test plans
- Design review competency including DFMEA
- Reads technical drawings (e.g. schematics)
- Collaborates well with cross functional teams
- Ability to lead technical portion of projects
- Ability to effectively lead projects from inception to completion
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic understanding of the operation of motors, pumps, and electronic controls (including variable frequency drives)
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering degree (required)
- Five years of related experience (required)
- Experience in the design of variable frequency drives and electronic controls (preferred)
- Product knowledge of motors, pumps, drive controls, or water treatment products (preferred)
