Value Stream Manager - Gum - Yorkville, IL

The Gum Value Stream Manager (VSM) leads the Maintenance and Operations teams across the Gum Value Stream in Yorkville. The Gum Value Stream is critical to the success of the Yorkville Plant as we deliver efficiency against Sugar gum output while also beginning to produce Sugar Free Gum to support the growth ambitions of the GUM Cell.

What are we looking for?

• A demonstrated ability and desire to work with people, both individuals as well as in teams
• A working knowledge of Mars Inc. operating policies, Food and Drug Laws, OSHA requirements, EEO and Wage and Hour Laws, etc
• An understanding of lean manufacturing techniques and philosophies, as well as a thorough knowledge of the MARS Operating System and all its components
• An undergraduate degree or equivalent preferably in one of the engineering, basic sciences or business-related disciplines
• At least 6 years total business experience with at least 5 years managerial experience
• Thorough technical knowledge of process, equipment, controls and products. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of human relations skills, principles and team building processes. Good communications skills

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Develop strategies to insure that Areas of responsibility delivers their part of the overall site strategy
• Staff and manage area total VS within operating plan while supporting growth of the GUM Cell
• Drive operating rate improvements using teams and Lean tools affecting total area budgets ranging from $10-30MM
• Determine strategy to optimally achieve production schedules daily/weekly
