Job Summary:
We are looking for a Vehicle Test Operator to work with our Vehicle Systems Engineering Team to support vehicle testing performed in the workshop, on the test track, and in the field. We are looking for candidates that are ready and excited to take on the responsibilities associated with leading a high-tech product line. The successful candidate for this position must have experience with testing and validation, a clean driving record, general understanding and profound interest of automotive technology, and the flexibility to work in a dynamic work environment. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform durability and vehicle performance test cycles in accordance with Motiv test procedures
- Durability test cycles include performing various drive cycles on test tracks, public roads and cycling vehicle components
- Your primary goal is to evaluate vehicle performance, perform quality checks during test cycles, and documentation of resultsÂ
- Assists technicians and engineers to duplicate vehicle behaviors observed during vehicle testing
- Perform basic pre-drive vehicle safety checks (including but not limited to fluid checks, tire pressure, tire tread condition, etc.)
- Operate data collection equipment following testing proceduresÂ
- Maintain high quality vehicle data entry into the vehicle test databases and data sheets for recordkeeping
- Write daily drive reports detailing observations and issues
- Keep all test vehicles charged and ready to drive
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Basic knowledge of vehicle systems
- Ability to work a regulature full time Monday-Friday schedule (Dayshifts only plus some overtime may be required for this position.)
- Approximately 20% travel to other US domestic test sites and offices
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions to perform vehicle test cycles to test procedures
- Capability in following technical instructions to operate test vehicles, charging equipment, basic hand tools and test equipment including data/information recording systems in the vehicles
- Comfortable using MS Office Tools (including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) among other computer software programs to perform your job
- Excellent attention to detail and highly observational
- Support duties would include: transporting test vehicles and equipment to remote test locations, assisting test technicians/engineers during test preparation, and performing vehicle test driving on test tracks and on public roadways
- Experience in automotive repair is a plus (but is not needed)
- Experience in driving medium duty trucks is a plus
Education and Experience:
- Minimum required education is a High School diploma
- BS in Engineering or some college degree is preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a plant environment
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs. from the floor to 48in. high
- Occasional exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals within OSHA and California work environment statutes
- Will be required to perform other essential duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Salary Range:
- $25.00 - $35.00 per hour (Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.)
This is a regular full-time position based in Foster City, CA.
