Job Description

The VP, Account Services for SONIC Story Lab – a division of Spectrum Science Communication focused on storytelling, will operate on multiple levels, both internally and externally.

Internally they will partner with SONIC Story Lab leadership to strategically lead and grow key client business. They’ll be expected to build relationships within the SONIC Story lab team, as well as within the larger Spectrum Science organization. They’ll be expected to lead the internal finance tracking and billing for the client business they support. The VP will oversee and is responsible for the financial health of a brand. The VP will be nimble and will be expected to absorb the best of both cultures that exist at both Spectrum Science and within SONIC. Additionally, they’ll collaborate with our interwoven teams and functions to build a high-performing team. They’ll partner with SONIC leadership to grow the business and further build out the brand team for 2023.

Externally they will develop a strong partnership with multiple client partners. They’ll be seen as the stewards of all project workstreams, be looked to for strategic support and executional excellence one that clients see as an invaluable extension of their own team. They’ll be the primary client contact and will be expected to bring all that SONIC and Spectrum has to offer to the client in service of their business and marketing objectives.

  • Account lead for single brand
  • Partner closely with brand strategy and client relationship lead
  • Account services lead in title but prepared to do the work when needed
  • Creative strategy and “roll-up-sleeve” mindset are critical to success in this role
  • Creates a stronger client/agency partnership
  • Establish credibility with clients at all levels and embody service-orientated attitude
  • Lead strategic and tactical planning process, appropriately collaborating with brand strategy and client relationship lead
  • Partner with other departments to ensure a strong, cohesive team
  • Learn and fully understand SONIC storytelling offerings and Spectrum Science communication offerings
  • Understands product clinical data, competitive landscape, and customer insights to provide strategic value
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of client’s business and actively seek opportunities for further account development
  • Oversee development and execution of projects, ensuring they are on strategy and completed on time and within budget
  • Notifies clients when issues arise
  • Accountable for brand finances
  • Keep senior management briefed on and involved in key account activities
  • Work closely with SONIC Story Lab leadership to identify and build out appropriate functions and processes for AOR accounts
  • Recommend adjustments/additions to the roles and procedures of the practice and engagement function to achieve continuous improvement and efficiency across accounts and function
  • Help interview, train, and orient new team members to the agency/account
  • Provide ongoing guidance for AOR accounts to all team members and be available to them as a resource

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7-10 years of advertising agency experience required, with at least 5 year’s experience working on healthcare and/or pharmaceutical brands
  • Good communicator who can develop a clear, well-supported point of view, tell a compelling “story,” and “sell” agency work (e.g., creative, branding, strategy)
  • Leader who commands attention and respect, can manage group dynamics and difficult situations, and steer clients or agency teams in the right direction
  • Team player who partners with strategic planning to develop a strong strategic foundation for the brand, and partners with creative to develop breakthrough, behavior-changing creative
  • Provides constructive feedback in a professional manner to any department to create even better work
  • Able to work within a team environment, helping ensure the team functions at a high level and continues to be motivated
  • Knowledge and application of new technologies and innovations affecting the health marketplace
