Corvus is seeking a VP of Business Operations to lead BizOps and enable long-term company success by increasing operational fidelity across important programs and businesses, developing strategy together with partners, and ensuring understanding and execution against this strategy across the organization.
This individual will be tasked with driving growth for Corvus by launching and scaling new initiatives and optimizing day-to-day operations. Working on behalf of the Executive Team to execute the company’s strategic plan, this individual will collaborate cross functionally to drive company-wide adoption of OKRs for transparency and accountability. BizOps spans two main areas: Strategic Ops, a lean internal consulting-like group operating as a team of tactical experts to focus on the most important business challenges; and Data & Analytics, harnessing internal data to uncover insights across the business.
Responsibilities- Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, detailing the impact on existing and new operational processes, implementing organization-wide goal setting, and performance tracking
- Assist in crafting internal and external narrative around the strategy and future roadmap
- Lead initiatives on behalf of the Executive Team that focus on complex business challenges, with end-to-end responsibility for defining and executing on the company’s strategic plan
- Work with product, engineering, and insurance leadership to refine our 3-5 year roadmap
- Deliver business strategy, build the plans, prepare quarterly updates, provide input for Board and Investor meetings
- Support goal-setting and OKR development across company initiatives and teams
- Measure and monitor performance directly tied to transparent OKRs by developing reports and dashboards to ensure teams are making informed decisions, and evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
- Help to develop a team culture through internal meetings and offsites
- Partner with Finance to advise on capital investment and expenses ensuring the company achieves targets for growth and profitability
- Partner with People Operations to advise on recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention
- Lead key initiatives to address business challenges across a range of areas on behalf of the Executive Team
- Identify areas where standard processes must be created for scalability and work cross functionally to implement
- Partner with Business Intelligence Team to deliver insights in order to make informed business decisions
- Bring actionable insights from internal (sales, UW, and claims) data to uncover insights and to develop new products and business opportunities
- Project management – ensure rigor to timelines and budget, manage without authority to deliver successfully initiative
- Manage special projects
- 7+ years of experience in a similar strategic / operational management role at a scaling company
- Management consulting experience a plus
- MBA a plus
- Change agent with a track record for executing on complex initiatives across diverse stakeholder groups
- Experience driving strategic, operational, and organizational improvements
- Ability to formulate strategy, communicate it across all levels of the organization including the Board, then translate it into an operational plan, and implement
- ‘Roll-up your sleeves’ mentality to drive execution
- Experience in start-up or scale-up environments working closely with product and engineering squads
- Process excellence background, developing processes to improve customer experience while addressing compliance gaps
- Ability to drive alignment across multiple stakeholder groups to build consensus
- Aptitude to step into and serve as interim functional leader or oversee initiatives
- Strong process and project management skills
- Business intelligence and analytics experience using BI tools (Looker, PowerBI, Tableau)
- Experience in Insurance or SaaS industry experience (preferred)
- Develop actionable insights based on research and external data
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Exceptional work ethic, team mentality, positive attitude, highly-driven, self-motivated, and excellent business partnering skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Team builder with positive attitude, encourager and collaborator
- Ability to participate and facilitate group meetings
- Ability to tackle complex problems and develop elegant, scalable, and repeatable process solutions
- Maintain the highest standards of accuracy and precision; detail-oriented, highly-organized and resourceful
- Genuine desire to make meaningful contributions on a team with big aspirations
- Ability to change mindset or approach when data suggests
