Job Summary

The Vice President of Engineering Analytics is a high-visibility position that will play a key role in accelerating the growth trajectory of the business. The VP will partner with product, engineering and UX leadership to build a world class CTO metrics function, delivering business insights through data and maintaining executive-level KPI’s to drive productivity, ensure resource alignment with key objectives, and inform strategic decision making. Scope for this role also includes the establishment of a modern vendor management function including responsibility for owning and driving all cross-functional cloud margin optimization initiatives. The ideal candidate has extensive experience deriving business insights from data, expert-level skillsets in Excel and BI database management as well as familiarity with DORA and FLOW metric concepts. Extensive experience with modern devops tools including Jira & Github and a deep understanding of modern scaled agile methodologies is essential. Candidates must have demonstrated success in leading complex global engineering operations and scaled cloud infrastructure cost management functions within high-growth SaaS environments and the skillset and willingness to build teams from the ground up. This position will report to the SVP of Product and Engineering operations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Create dynamic, data-driven operational visibility across PM, engineering and UX functions
• Build, maintain and evolve executive-level engineering metric KPI dashboards
• Create analytics roadmap to include incorporation of more advanced DORA and FLOW metric concepts over the next 12-18 months
• Benchmark productivity and performance metrics against industry standards and partner with executive leadership to optimize resource allocation and drive process evolution
• Select, implement and evolve a modern analytics tool stack
• Design, implement, and drive cross-functional processes to optimize cloud infrastructure costs
• Break down cross-functional silo’s and establish an operational center of excellence
• Work closely with Engineering and operations leaders to drive tool and process standardization in support of KPI reporting automation
• Drive a culture of data-driven decision making across the CTO organization
• Foster a data-driven, execution-driven mindset up, down, and across teams
• Serve as a guide to senior leaders on maturity evolution of all ops functions and teams
• Provide guidance and occasional senior ops support to broader PM and Engineering initiatives including but not limited to FedRAMP and Product Usage/Telemetry data management projects

Success Metrics

• KPI reporting: Deliver standard monthly executive dashboarding package by end of Q1 2023. Own key board meeting update materials quarterly. Establish standing monthly CTO org business insights call to present trends and recommendations.
• Cloud Gross Margins: VP will have specific cloud gross margin optimization targets by product by quarter and will be expected to create, drive, and own cross-functional initiatives to deliver margin improvement
• Vendor Cost Optimization: Specific quarterly opex savings targets through a combination of vendor consolidation, license rationalization and contract negotiation across vendors

• 10+ years of experience in Enterprise Software, SaaS, Cloud products/services within B2B space
• Proven experience in leading operating teams through business transformations, strategic pivots, and/or product modernization phases
• Data driven with proven success in high-growth SaaS environments
• Private equity and/or board reporting experience
