The Vice President, Global Network Operations Center will be responsible for the overall strategy and operation of 24/7 monitoring and support for Zayo's owned and leased network infrastructure. This includes leadership and development over a dedicated team of experts and partners who constantly monitor the network, identifying and resolving issues before they cause customer disruption.

The Vice President, Global Network Operations Center will be responsible for the overall strategy and operation of 24/7 monitoring and support for Zayo's owned and leased network infrastructure. Responsibilities
- Develop the company's Global Network Operation Center (GNOC) Strategy.
- Participate in the planning, acquiring, and implementing applications, monitoring tools, and physical equipment, including servers and network hardware.
- Make decisions to prevent network interruptions and service degradation through proactive Network Monitoring.
- Establish, maintain, and update GNOC standards, policies, and workflows.

- Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
- Drive continuous improvement activities resulting in the department surpassing operational and delivery metrics.
- Track the organizations' key metrics (KPIs) and produce monthly operating reviews for senior management.
- Perform direct communications to customers for updates as necessary.
- Professionally manage complex and/or emotional customer situations.
- Provide escalation status notifications throughout the enterprise on service-impacting events.
- Attract and retain highly effective management and supervisory staff through mentoring, coaching, development, appraisal, and motivation techniques.
- Analyzes performance data to drive improvements through methods and procedures, network management protocols, platform enhancements, and vendor performance management.
- Create a culture of innovation and the continuous drive for performance improvements with direct, matrix, and third-party team members and outsource vendor partners.
- Ensures GNOC vendor performance is regularly assessed and meets contractual/project requirements.
- Build and maintain a process for monitoring and quickly remedying GNOC vendor performance against contractual and project requirements.
- Develops an effective front-line Leadership team and assist them with developing their direct reports to drive a high-performance culture and environment.
- Develop and manage a Leased Vendor Management program to ensure performance parity
- Lead and participates in succession planning.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills that will contribute to team development and in working with other stakeholders including senior management.
- Ability to communicate with all Senior and Executive level audiences.
- Experience leading large team of "operators" including Sr./Directors, Principals, Managers, Engineers, and Vendors.
- Knowledge of the Layer 2 and Layer 3 carrier networks and networking protocols and services including STP, REP, VLANs, ERP (G.8031/2) MPLS L2 / L3, DIA, VPLS, IPVPN, ISIS, BGP, OSPF, and DDOS.
- Knowledge of various vendors including Cisco, Juniper, BTI (Juniper), ALU (Nokia), Cyan (Ciena), Arbor, and Accedian.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or technology related field.
- At least 10 years of leadership experience in a 24/7/365 environment
- 5-10 years of experience in the telecom industry.
- 5-10 years of leading large technical teams across multiple disciplines and locations.
- 5-10 years of Enterprise Level Route/Switch, DWDM Optical Systems, and associated Alarming/Monitoring technologies.
- Strong decision-making skills coupled with the ability to lead change.
- Exceptional leader, people manager, and customer advocate with a passion for technical support.
- A clear understanding of IP, multicast, network routing, transport, and lease fiber management.
- Highly responsible, self-motivated, and able to thrive in an energetic, fast pace, high growth, entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong team player who can build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
