The VP of Marketplace Operations leads Guild’s “operational nerve center” for all key activities to design, launch, and configure Employer and Learning partners. This leader is responsible for the effective planning, management and delivery of commercial and technical configuration for employers and academic providers. You have an eye towards current or future bottlenecks and be a key steward with cross-functional counterparts to increase Guild’s overall delivery capacity and quality today, while building a team that is curious and innovating for tomorrow’s needs.
Guild expects you to serve as an “honest broker” across Guild’s team members and to advise decisions, timing considerations, surface risks or tradeoffs for commercial and technical delivery. Through this role, you will identify common asks and serve as the lead input for key product, operations, and workflow changes needed with our Technical and Operating teams or adjustments with our GTM motion.Â
You will know you are successful when you have…
- Increased overall company-wide absorption capacity for launches, while being largely agnostic to the number or timing of new deals or major changesÂ
- Built a collaborative and inclusive cultural environment within the team and cross functionally
- Modeled and built a curious culture that questions and reset stale assumptions, develops creative solutions to capacity and brings a growth mindset to all problems to build a flexible and dynamic team.Â
- Decreased overall percent of company cost per launch or major configuration change, while maintaining or increasing quality of delivery and handling for an ever increasing array of technical and commercial configuration options (in other words, implementations get simpler as complexity increases and do not require significant and wide-spread awareness)
- Delivered continuous quality improvements to maintain controls and compliance environments across partnersÂ
To be successful in this role, you’ll likely be an expert in the following skills and/or experiences:
- Have continuously improved efficiency and operations of a large, complex organization
- Are an expert at cross functional partnership and communication with internal senior leaders and external senior clients.Â
- Have a track record of developing and growing a strong bench of senior talent.
- Have built and led a professional services or implementation team in a growth environment.
You will lead a team of ~35 full time employees, collectively supporting three subfunctions: Employer Program Design, Implementation Delivery and Configuration Management and will join the Partnerships Leadership Team. Â
Here are descriptions of the three sub-functions:Â
Implementation Delivery (50% of team)
Implementation Delivery is responsible for ensuring high quality and efficient implementation delivery across the marketplace, including new APs, new EPs, high priority expansions, ongoing tier 2 technical support for employers and incorporating new solutions into our delivery motion (e.g., applied learning, internal mobility). They focus on continuous improvements to our launch motion with an eye to improved initial requirements and planning and reduced communication and coordination cost to unlock more capacity and agility. Â
Employer Program Design (25% of team)
Employer Program Design is responsible for the commercial configuration of new Employer Partners. This team empowers EP-facing teams to design the core building blocks of best-in-class commercial “programs,” including policy, catalog, and transitions for existing programs. To do this, they create and maintain standards, monitor quality, aggregate findings, and build systems to increase efficiency and efficacy. This team is successful when we increase the number of eligible employees, lift barriers to enrollments and optimize marketplace liquidity while meeting the needs of employers and members. Â
Configuration Management (25% of team)
Configuration Management is responsible for the technical configuration of new EPs and LPs. To do this, they setup for launch and facilitate any configuration changes required once a Partner is live.. This team also is responsible for co-creating the long-term vision and roadmap, in partnership with technology, for creating a more configurable Guild ecosystem where Partners and/or Partner-facing teams are able to self-serve configuration tasks.Â
