Vice President of Government Affairs

About the Role:

The Vice President of Government Affairs will implement a federal and multistate strategy to achieve Panorama Education’s legislative and political objectives. Candidates will have a proven track record of responsible decision making and success in a complex Government Affairs function, possessing a demonstrated and clear reputation for excellence and integrity. 

The Vice President of Government Affairs will provide support and leadership in developing and advancing Panorama’s public policy agenda by helping design, implement, and coordinate the company’s strategic direction as it relates to outreach, messaging, and engagement with elected officials, government officials and their staff, and third-party allies. The successful candidate must have a deep understanding of legislative, regulatory, and political processes including knowledge of the substantive public policy and business issues affecting a leading education technology company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement effective advocacy strategies for education and technology priorities on the federal and state levels
• Coordinate efforts effectively with external government relations partners and internal staff in a collaborative team environment
• Manage outside consulting, lobbying, public relations and association resources to achieve legislative, regulatory, and reputational goals
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key partners in governmental and non-governmental agencies, organizations, associations, and companies to expand Panorama’s government affairs capacity
• Represent Panorama in meetings with state officials and partners as needed, which may be in person or virtual
• Collaborate with Panorama executive leadership to execute effective government affairs strategies
• Build and lead Panorama’s team of experienced government relations professionals

Candidate Qualifications:

• 10+ years of relevant government affairs experience, with proven relationship and coalition building skills
• 5+ years people leadership experience - building, managing and mentoring a team
• Experience as a senior government affairs officer with a nationwide company, preferred in education and technology
• Political relationship expertise, preferably with relationship contacts with Congressional leadership or committee chairs with jurisdiction in education policy
• Proactive approach to legislative, advocacy and political issues management
• Demonstrated understanding of substantive policy issues in the education, technology, or privacy sectors
• A track record of ownership in managing objectives, leading staff, and engaging with stakeholders, both internal and external
