The Role 

The Vice President of Hardware Engineering position is responsible for overseeing all hardware development activities within Miso. You will be a key senior leader, and responsible for managing the design, development, modification, and evaluation of all hardware components.  You will oversee all day-to-day operations and activities, and you will be the key leader in executing Miso’s long-term goal. You will report to Miso’s Chief Technology Officer, and work very closely with the Chief Executive Officer.

The pay range for this position is $170,000 - $220,000 + equity + benefits. Since the company is pre-revenue, we all view our equity as being a key driver of why we choose to work at Miso. Our salary ranges are determined by data from our industry peers, the level of responsibility, job-related skills required, training, education, experience, and the current stage of Miso’s growth. The range posted for this role represents a range that Miso Robotics, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

What You’ll Do

• Oversee the design and development of various hardware products from concept to market launch, ensuring they are compliant to customer requirements reliable, robust, and meet the company's quality standards 
• Develop and execute a strategic hardware roadmap that aligns with the company's overall mission and goals.
• Build a strong, collaborative team aligned with the roadmap and goals. 
• Create and maintain the rigorous testing and validation processes to guarantee the quality, reliability and safety of hardware systems. 
• Ensure manufacturing quality by providing a thorough manufacturing test environment and test plans to manufacturing partners and to global suppliers. Manage product and supplier costs.
• Ensure products meet all relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements, including safety and environmental certifications. 
• Collaborate with other departments such as software engineering, product management, and manufacturing to ensure integrated project development.
• Manage a team of hardware engineers, providing them, and others within the organization with guidance and mentorship.
• Oversee testing and troubleshooting of hardware systems, making necessary improvements to enhance performance.
• Create and manage budgets and timelines for hardware projects, ensuring they are completed on-time and within budget.
• Ensure the company stays up-to-date with latest hardware technologies and industry trends, making necessary adjustments to internal strategies.
• Participate in vendor selection, partnerships and other critical business negotiations.
• Ability to deliver the products on time. 

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Several years' experience in hardware engineering, preferably in a senior leadership role.
• Experience in design for manufacturing
• Experience in launching a product from prototype to scale.
• Strong knowledge of AI and Machine Learning hardware systems.
• Demonstrated experience with computer hardware design and testing.
• Exceptional leadership skills, with the capacity to manage and mentor teams effectively.
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in managing project timelines, budgets, and resources.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, able to liaise effectively with different departments.
• Broad knowledge of the AI industry, including emerging trends and technologies.
• Experience with vendor negotiations and supply chain management would be advantageous.
