Job Description

Ruder Finn is in search of a Vice President of Multicultural Communications to join our Relate team. At Relate, we bring together people, purpose, and policy! We collaborate with businesses, governments, and NGOs to create and implement programs and communications that resonate with key audiences on topics like environmental sustainability, social impact, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), environmental, social, and governance (ESG), advocacy, and public affairs.

The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience pertaining to community impact, sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion, alongside a proven track record of designing communication strategies tailored to culturally diverse audiences. This individual should demonstrate a passion for spearheading diverse and innovative communication initiatives in collaboration with marketing, digital, and social teams, employing an all-encompassing approach. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, delegate effectively and provide seasoned counsel. Familiarity with best communication practices and the capacity to advise executive-level clients while leading the execution of related projects is crucial. Moreover, they should possess a natural aptitude for cultivating and nurturing strong client and interpersonal relationships. The individual should have experience with supporting diverse audiences, including but not limited to Hispanic, Black, AAPI, Rural, Native American, LGBTQIA+ communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integrated communication strategies and plans that align with the client's goals, brand identity, and values

  • Contribute to the development of IMulticulturalEI communications strategies that activate awareness, drive innovation, connect with diverse audiences, and enhance brand engagement

  • Act as primary client contact; continually foster client-agency relationship to build trust and become a valuable resource to clients

  • Proactively generate new business opportunities and actively contribute to new business brainstorms and the RFP process

  • Work in collaboration with different teams across the organization to provide culturally relevant insights to identify key opportunities to reach and connect with diverse communities

  • Conduct research and analysis on the client’s industry, market, competitors, and target audiences to identify the best tactics and key messaging to reach and influence multicultural audiences

  • Develop and present persuasive and culturally appropriate stories, perspectives, and messages that highlight the client's products, services, initiatives, or achievements

  • Serve as the expert leader on client teams, demonstrating industry or media-driven knowledge that directly and indirectly affects the client

  • Deliver an excellent level of client service by articulating client media relations needs to senior managers, updating on media relations project status and priorities, and ensuring seamless workflow and communication among all team members

  • Identify and anticipate potential issues or crises, and develop/execute appropriate response

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with diverse-owned, diverse-reaching, and multicultural media partners

  • Stay updated on the latest trends, developments, and best practices in multicultural communications, as well as the client's industry and market

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field

  • At least eight (8) years of experience in public relations, with a focus on multicultural or diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) communications

  • Proven track record of leading and executing successful and impactful campaigns or integrated planning/programming for multicultural clients or audiences

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft and deliver persuasive and engaging messages for different media formats and audiences

  • Strong media relations skills, with an extensive network of contacts and relationships with multicultural media and influencers

  • Creative and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to develop and implement innovative and effective public relations solutions

  • Ability to motivate, inspire, and develop a team of multicultural public relations professionals

  • Cultural competence and sensitivity, with the ability to understand and respect the diverse perspectives, values, and needs of multicultural clients and audiences

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to measure and evaluate the results and outcomes of campaigns, and to address and resolve any public relations issues or crises

  • Passion and enthusiasm for multicultural communications, with a commitment to advancing DE&I efforts in society

  • Bilingual (Spanish-Speaking) is preferred but not required

The anticipated salary range for this position, at the time of posting, is $100,000 – $150,000. The salary of the applicant selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, education, internal equity, geography, relevant years of experience, certifications, skills, abilities of the selected applicant, and other job-related qualifications. In addition, a range of medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available by the company.
