About the Role
The New York Times is hiring a product leader with deep technical product management and product development experience to lead the Product function for our Developer Experience organization. This team builds and supports centralized tools and infrastructure that 40+ product engineering teams across the company use to build all NYT Products: the customer-facing experiences, the applications that support them, and internal applications that support our operations. This includes platform products such as our cloud environment, observability and deployment tools, microservices, and edge architecture. Your role will be to develop the product function within this organization and manage a team of Product Managers. You will report to the Senior Vice President, Engineering for NY Times. You can work remotely in this role.
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop a multi-year strategic roadmap for all developer productivity, infrastructure, and site reliability products.
- Advocate for Developer Experience and Platform Engineering to engineering teams across the company, advancing key strategic goals such as DevOps centralization and shared services to move the company to a more platform-oriented approach to engineering.
- Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to lead planning cycles with team goals, own customer adoption, and track platform value and performance metrics.
- Mentor a team of 3 product managers, while establishing a product culture suited to the unique technical requirements of this team.
- Develop a product strategy in an internal customer-facing technical space and communicate the rationale to both technical and non-technical partners.
Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant product management experience
- 4+ years of technical experience
- 5+ years of experience developing talent and culture
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience building a strategy for Developer Productivity and Reliability Engineering platforms.
- Data-informed decision-making and implementing customer feedback loops
- Develop KPIs to share with executives that demonstrate the value of the products the team delivers
- Technical experience working with the following domains: CI/CD, SRE, observability tooling, infrastructure management, edge networking, GCP, AWS, Kubernetes, cost management, and vendor evaluations
- Enthusiasm for hearing and considering diverse points of view and comfort with making decisions when surrounded by divergent opinions.
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience

The annual base pay range for this role is between:
$245,000—$270,000 USD
