Job Description

The Vice President of Product Marketing is a compelling storyteller, strategic thinker, and executor who can develop insightful, differentiated, and memorable narratives and content while leading a team to do the same. You’ll build and lead the team of product marketers, stay close to the market by talking regularly to customers, partner closely with product management peers around customer/market feedback and new releases, price and package products to maximize ARR, and develop sales tools and associated content that communicates the capabilities and value of our product. As the product marketing leader at SmartRent, you and your team will deliver exceptional results driving the business forward. This role reports to the Chief Marketing Officer.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end ownership of product marketing (both strategic vision and tactical execution) for SmartRent’s rapidly growing offerings, including defining the vision and strategy of the product marketing team. 
  • Interact regularly with sales, marketing, and senior management to gather requirements, drive creation of product marketing plans to achieve business goals, and track results.
  • Enablement and content creation: develop compelling product messaging and materials that position SmartRent as the leading smart home solutions provider in the space. Enable and excite the direct sales force with crucial sales tools and training that allows them to be effective in their role. 
  • Speak to customers and survey the market on an ongoing basis to understand challenges, goals, solution requirements, perception of value, receptiveness to various pricing models, interest level in new features, and relevance of messaging. Bring the voice of the customer into all marketing deliverables as well as to product management to help guide prioritization of new capabilities.
  • Go-to-market planning and launch coordination: support launches of new products and releases to both internal and external audiences to highlight new opportunities created for users and up-sell/cross-sell opportunities for sales.
  • Pricing and packaging: develop merchandising strategy for the SmartRent solutions suite of products to increase awareness and adoption. 
  • Recruit, build and lead the product marketing team, ensuring short-term tactical activities and long-term strategic efforts align with SmartRent’s operating plan.
  • Actively coach and mentor talent by creating opportunities for challenge and skill advancement.

Required Qualifications

  • ~ 15 years of marketing/product marketing leadership 
  • Proven experience building and managing a best-in-class product marketing organization
  • World-class written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent B2B storyteller and presenter.
  • Strong project management skills, with acute attention to detail.
  • Experience working in SaaS with an enterprise customer base and sales force.
  • Strong customer interaction skills and passion for speaking directly with customers to hear their voice and share throughout the organization.
  • Ability to engage and empathize with IT buyers, data scientists, and C-level executives.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with ability to lead as well as roll up sleeves.
  • Executive presence with experience presenting and communicating with C-suite executives. 
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or related area.
