Vice President, VP, FP&A – GAAP & Performance Analytics and Reporting

Job Summary

The FP&A function provides senior management with forward looking projections, forecasts and analysis of F&G’s financial results and operating performance, connecting strategy to performance.  The FP&A team has a significant contribution to the successful setting of F&G financial targets and the ultimate achievement of them. They also enable management to credibly communicate with external stakeholders.  The FP&A team partners to bring together all of the work of the deeply technical teams across finance, actuarial, investments, reinsurance and the lines of business to deliver value-added business analysis and metrics in support of enterprise-wide decision making.  This team will have a comprehensive understanding of all key business performance drivers and sophisticated financial models.

The VP, FP&A – GAAP Forecasts, Analysis & Performance Reporting position is responsible for the strategic leadership of two teams, the GAAP forecasts & analysis team and Performance Reporting & Analysis (PRA) team.  The GAAP Forecast & Analysis team delivers monthly forecasts and analysis vs Plan and prior periods.  The PRA team is developing best-in-class, scalable FP&A performance analytics and management reporting center of excellence to provide high quality deliverables to senior management and external audiences. 

This position reports to the SVP, FP&A and will have a team of 7-10 direct/indirect reports.  This position will support the SVP, Investor & External Relations and other teams including but not limited to finance, actuarial, investments, reinsurance, capital and finance business partners. This position will also interact with all levels of Finance, including the senior leadership team and CFO. 

Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for providing strategic direction for two teams, GAAP Forecasts & Analysis and Performance Reporting & Analysis.  The GAAP Forecast & Analysis team primarily focuses on¬¬¬¬¬ monthly GAAP forecasts and analysis.  The Performance Reporting is developing a best-in-class, scalable FP&A performance analytics and management reporting center of excellence and providing Finance support for Investor and External Relations and Business Units.

• Provide leadership to deliver high quality financial packages tailored to audience; present persuasively and create analysis & messages that are clear and credible. Synthesize complex concepts as needed
• Comply with production and distribution of FP&A management reports, considering material nonpublic information (MNPI) and Regulation Fair-Disclosure (Reg F-D) requirements
• Drive deeper understanding of FP&A team function and requirements across F&G
• Meet standards for key performance metric definitions & effective presentation collateral
• Harness technology to drive automation and efficiencies for flexible turnkey deliveries
• Provide leadership of GAAP financial analysis, forecasting and ad hoc support; synthesize complex concepts to create analysis & explanations that are clear, concise and credible
• Support and partner with individuals, including the leaders across the business, to provide analysis that is predictive, actionable, and impacts our ability to achieve results
• Review monthly reporting packages for the executive leadership that includes forecasts, analysis, KPI’s, and insights into key business trends
• Support quarterly GAAP external reporting to deliver high quality, timely and accurate variance analysis, benchmarking and financial results messaging
• Ensure the accuracy of current financial forecasting models, and understand their inputs, outputs and key assumptions
• Provide peer company, industry and competitor analysis to help manage our business and to respond to industry issues and concerns on a timely basis
• Develop deeper understanding of FPA reporting methodologies and requirements across the organization
• Support a culture of financial transparency and continuous improvement
• Provide support on M&A activities, including capital analyses of targets and combined organizations
• Provide leadership for FP&A Executive management presentations, telling the story on financial results and projections to CEO, MC, FNF (parent Company) and Boards in support of internal and external messaging
• Review Executive presentations regarding F&G business updates and financial performance
• Provide leadership and guidance for FP&A business decision support, including ad hoc analysis of complex financial business issues that impact the organization
• Review monthly and quarterly financial results with a lens to support internal and external messaging
• The position will serve as a primary Finance lead for the SVP Investor and External Relations, partnering to articulate F&G’s strategy and financial performance to key constituents, such as sell-side analysts, equity and debt investors, rating agencies and regulators
• Serve as primary contact to SVP IR/ER for F&G business performance, drivers and forecasts intel, to ensure credible, aligned and relevant messaging
• Support SVP IR/ER on development of materials for quarterly and annual earnings cycle materials, board presentations, investor meetings and conferences, investor day events, regulator and rating agency surveillance calls, and institutional diligence collateral

Experience and Education Requirements

• • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial or related field
  • 15+ years related professional experience in financial planning & analysis and/or financial reporting required
  • 6+ years experience leading a team
  • CPA or MBA required
  • Big-4 Audit Experience highly desirable
  • Significant insurance experience highly desirable
  • Knowledge of annuity and life insurance products preferred
  • Knowledge of accounting practices and principles
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Experience with general ledgers, databases and report writing is desired
