Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a Video Editor/Motion Graphics who is an expert digital artist to support a federal client with IT-related communications strategies and services. The Video Editor/Motion Graphics will bring editing and design skills to support digital content for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

As an expert digital artist, they will use visual effects, animations and other techniques to create artwork for the media such as web, television or film (e.g. trailers, commercials, title sequences etc.). He/she will be responsible for working hand in hand with the design team, aiding with the creation of assets, then bringing them to life. We are looking for someone who brings creativity to editing video for a range of stunning, innovative content. They are agile at brainstorming, coming up with custom content that transmit ideas across digital platforms. They are also deadline driven, organized and detail obsessed. They have top notch interpersonal and communication skills but are also a self-starter, able to work independently from the group. He/she will have demonstrated experience in remediation of video, audio and web content to assist with the development of compliant, accessible products to support and execute efforts for the VA.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, proactive problem-solver and action-oriented team player. He/she must be committed to providing superior service, poised in a fast-paced environment and have a positive and flexible attitude.

This is a full-time position supporting a hybrid schedule on-site in Washington, DC.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Staying up to date with industry trends.
  • Producing consistently excellent visual work.
  • Create highly engaging complex animations for a diverse array of media.
  • Work with illustrators and designers to understand the project scope and objectives.
  • Assist in the creation of animation storyboards and conceptual layouts.
  • Encoding, converting and editing videos and adding effects/elements to enhance motion graphics.
  • Work with the team to edit video content to create sizzle reels, pitch reels, case studies, marketing pieces, and day-to-day social videos.
  • Works closely with Production personnel as a team member on assigned accounts to produce effective themes, campaigns, etc.
  • Work with the team to develop experiences that exceed client goals, carry out the creative vision.
  • Participates in client meetings, when appropriate.
  • Displays professional courtesy to clients and co-workers; is considerate of their work schedules.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience of progressively complex, relevant video/content editing experience at an agency and/or production house environment.
  • End-to-end familiarity with video production process, including pre-production, shooting and post-production/editing.
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere and/or Final Cut Pro, Creative Suite, audio mixing, lighting, and color correction/finishing.
  • Proficiency with Google Web Designer, and/or Adobe Animate.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative. Understanding of accessibility testing, tools and standards (Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act).
  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Media, Animation and/or related Visual Arts.
  • Portfolio, reel and/or example links required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Cinema4D, Blender, or other 3D software is a plus
  • Technical knowledge of compositing, procedural animation, timing, texturing and lighting
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with multiple deadlines.
  • Candidate must be a creative and enthusiastic solution- oriented team player.
  • Superior project management, organizational, prioritization, and follow-up skills.
  • Active VA PIV card is preferred.
