We're seeking a video editor to join our team focused on international news coverage. The Washington Post illuminates what is most relevant, consequential and interesting in a rapidly changing world. This requires timely, accessible and original coverage across the globe, around the clock, seven days a week.
The ideal candidate is a nimble and collaborative team player who is comfortable switching between breaking news and explanatory and feature pieces. This position requires monitoring live video feeds and editing video from wire services and journalists in the field. The editor will also work closely with our foreign team to contribute to visually driven stories. Experience covering international news or previous work for a foreign news outlet is preferred. The editor should be comfortable hiring and assigning freelancers based in other countries.
Candidates should have at least three to five years of experience in a fast-paced newsroom, strong news judgment and the ability to multitask. Fast, proficient editing with Adobe products is required.
The hours for this position are expected to be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern time. Some shift work, including rotational weekend coverage, will be required. Editors participate in daily news and enterprise meetings, monitor analytics and perform other duties as assigned.
This position is based in our Washington, D.C., newsroom.
