Job Description
At Wistia, telling meaningful stories with video is core to everything we do. We use video to tell the story of our products, to support, educate and inspire our customers, to build our brand, and to communicate internally. Our video content is at the center of our mission to help every business make an impact with video.
The super-dynamic, super-creative video team at Wistia is growing, and we’re looking for a new Writer/Producer! We need a script writer and producer who is passionate about all aspects of video production—from brainstorming ideas and writing scripts, to directing and collaborating on set.
In this role, you'll produce some of our most creative and highest profile video content. You'll be responsible for writing engaging video scripts, planning shoots, and guiding your ideas through the production process—all while meeting the requirements of key stakeholders across the business. You’ll work closely with other creatives on the Content & Creative team to produce a range of video content: in-app tutorials, product launch videos, customer testimonials, videos for social media, blog content, and more!
Key Responsibilities
- Write engaging, delightful video scripts. As a Writer/Producer at Wistia, you’ll be responsible for meeting with cross-functional stakeholders to gather inputs and then scripting engaging, delightful videos that clearly communicate to—and resonate with—our audiences.
- Set productions up for success. From development and pre-production through post-production, you'll be responsible for guiding Wistia videos from the page to a final product. That means you’ll manage production schedules, cast videos, wrangle props, help direct video shoots, and work with freelance creators as a collaborator in post production.
- Manage and own the production calendar. As a video producer at Wistia, you’ll manage the production calendar to help us create our best work—on schedule and on budget. You’ll stay on top of the range of ongoing work and act as liaison between the video team and stakeholders across the business.
- Collaborate with teams across the business. You'll be responsible for understanding our business goals and working cross-functionally to achieve them from a video perspective. You’ll hold creative briefings and provide status updates on various media assets to ensure our video scripts are on track and on message.
- Deliver creative, on-brand assets. Work with the Content & Creative team to maintain the quality—and push the boundaries—of the Wistia brand with video across all of our content channels.
Qualifications
The best candidates will have:
- 3-5+ years of demonstrated professional scripting, storyboarding, filmmaking, and production experience
- Outstanding organizational skills and a proven track record of shipping a high volume of quality content
- Technical understanding of key aspects of video production including casting, production design, videography, and video post
- Experience with directing folks on camera
- Experience clearly articulating visual concepts and communicating with a wide range of internal/external stakeholders
- Deep understanding of the creative process, including how to take inputs from stakeholders and transform them into easy-to-digest content properties, managing and incorporating feedback, and knowing when to advocate for ideas or change course as priorities change
About Wistia We try to ensure Wistia is an inclusive and diverse place where everyone feels happy, fulfilled, respected, comfortable, and welcome. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We care a lot, so our benefits are actually benefits, not just the fun stuff like swag and snacks in the office (though we also have lots of those too!).
We know the biggest investment we can make is in our employees, so we provide:
- A great compensation package
- 401k with 3% company contribution, regardless of whether you contribute
- Profit Sharing!
- Flexible hours
- Fully paid healthcare coverage for you and your family (including dental) and a healthcare FSA
- Up to 16 weeks paid family leave
- Flexible vacation and sick leave
- Transportation subsidies
Location: This role is for a Writer/Producer local to our beautiful office in Cambridge, MA, and for those willing to relocate to the Boston metro area.
