Virtual Designer

about the position

As a virtual designer at Power Design, you'll work directly with the Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) project executives and managers, aiding them by providing accurate construction documentation. Our virtual designers are CADD experts who integrate themselves into the workflow to produce construction documents and coordination packages, creating complete BIM electrical and low voltage models. The virtual design focuses on design and constructability issues to deliver the best results to our construction teams and customers.

position details/responsibilities

• In a high-energy, fast-paced environment, work with project teams to draft accurate and cost-effective electrical design plans and BIM models, applying best practices and QC processes to all products.
• Communicate and collaborate with project management and the design team to create high quality drawings that meet project milestones and deliverables, applying advanced tactics in all related software programs (including 2D & 3D).
• Work with and prepare documents for MEP trades, applying advanced strategies, coordination clash detection, and Autodesk point layout documentation, workflow and Total Station file preparation to all drawings.
• Model complete electrical distribution, power, lighting, brand and low voltage systems that meet the project requirements in the BIM execution plan.

here's what we're looking for

• A motivated computer-aided design and drafting modeling program guru who takes the time to do things right and focuses in on what's important in an ever-changing environment.
• At least three years of CADD experience working with programs like AutoCAD and Revit (BIM), including modeling and clash detection.
• A perfectionist who is obsessed with quality and has general electric knowledge, including an understanding of NEC.
• Someone with advanced Autodesk design suite skills, Bluebeam expertise and Microsoft Office experience.
• High school diploma/GED is required; technical school degree or equivalent is preferred.
