Virtual Production Technician

We are looking for a Virtual Production Technician to work on our world-class motion capture stage.  

Responsibilities:  

• Process, edit and clean motion capture data during and/or after  shoots. 
• Help set the stage and capture system up for real-time capture in Unreal, using the Lightstorm system, in collaboration with the Virtual Production team. 
• Calibrate, operate and/or do maintenance on the mocap system and the related on-stage hardware and software. 
• Operate the capture system as part of a team to capture world-class motion capture data.  
• Support the daily prep of the studio, software and systems prior to shoots.  
• Prepare the solving setups and calibrate actors. 
• Assist onset with setups of camera, lights and other equipment as necessary. 
• Work on prop or set fabrication and construction, including 3D printing of custom props for use on set. 
• As needed, contribute on set with virtual camera operation and other onset capture duties.  
• Physically create and strike bespoke mocap structures during the mocap shoot. 

Requirements & Skills:  

• Knowledge of Lightstorm/Giant Software  
• 2+ years of Motion Capture experience  
• 2+ years of Film, TV or video game production experience  
• 2+ years of DCC experience (Eg. Maya and Motion Builder)  
• Working knowledge of Python and Linux. Pipeline scripting experience is a plus. 
• Adept at Motion Capture setup, marker sets, and skeleton solving setup creation.  
• Excellent troubleshooting skills. Must be able to diagnose and solve issues with the software and hardware in use on the mocap stage.  
• Must be able to execute technically difficult work and maintain a good attitude under the pressure of on-set production.  
• Able to support the layout of motion capture cameras and make adjustments in response to conditions on set.  
• Ensure quality real-time camera, character and prop tracking data.

TNM considers a number of factors when determining each role's base pay range, including industry benchmarks, location, experience, and other job specific skills. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for other incentive compensation including equity and profit share. The estimated base pay range for this role is U.S. only and not applicable for locations outside of the U.S.
