Virtualization Engineer

About the Position

We are looking for a talented Virtualization Engineer who can help our IT Platform team design, deploy, and manage large-scale virtualization and VDI projects. Your projects will involve users from across many regions migrating to new platforms. 

You should have experience in all phases of these projects, including the architectural design and deployment of high-performance virtualization platforms, onboarding users, and performing ongoing maintenance and changes to the platform. This includes client hardware, OS, and connection protocols, as well as the hypervisor and deployment of Windows images.

We will look to you for ideas and solutions on performance tuning to maximize user experience and scaling. You’ll also be involved in designing and implementing the management and security architecture for the platform. Much of your work will involve creating and maintaining PowerShell scripts to automate the environment as much as possible. 

Getting the details right and keeping good records are critical in this role. While troubleshooting a range of technical issues, you’ll be expected to clearly document problem resolution using our online knowledge base. You’ll also need a true customer service mindset, and should enjoy collaborating with all sorts of colleagues across the firm—locally and abroad—to find and resolve issues, plan and execute deployments, and improve systems where possible. 

About You

• Experienced with installing, configuring, upgrading, monitoring, and troubleshooting virtualization platforms
• Strong working knowledge of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure technologies
• Experienced with investigating performance issues in virtualization environments, including guest OS
• Proficient in creating and maintaining complex powershell scripts to automate routine tasks
• Able to troubleshoot Windows operating systems on virtual platforms
• Good knowledge of networking technologies related to virtualization platforms
• Clear and concise communication skills; has a positive customer service attitude
• A flexible and reliable team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment
