We have an opportunity atour headquarters in Chicago for a Visual & UX Designer on ourMarketing & Membership Experience (MMX) team. This isa hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2-3 daysa week in the office.

As a Visual & UX Designer you will create on-brandvisual and user user interface (UI) and user experience (UX)artifacts for print and digital applications based on brand standards and othercreative guidelines and collaborate with colleagues to create materials that alignwith target audience needs, product requirements, and business strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop digital materials and assets that align with business needs and brand standards

• Design and execute creative solutions for both print and digital deployment to support overall creative strategy

• Produce visual deliverables including but not limited to: multimedia, websites, emails, presentations, print and digital marketing collateral, exhibit booths, and infographics

• Illustrate concepts by designing layouts of art and copy using design principles such as hierarchy, scale, contrast, typography and related aesthetic concepts to achieve desired results

• Work closely with design team members and creative director and with other departments including Product Development, Product Management, Brand Marketing, Digital Marketing, and Editorial to gather information and materials to create designs that align with brand standards and other creative guidelines, reflecting our customer's needs to achieve business goals

• Create UX/UI deliverables effectively engaging our audiences

• Create UX/UI deliverables that aid internal audiences' understanding of enhanced or new experiences, principally prototypes, wireframes, and online style guidelines

• Work with product development, data analytics, and marketing research to ensure that the work connects with the audience and achieves objectives

REQUIREMENTS:

1. BS or BA degree required; a degree in Graphic Design or Visual Communication preferred

2. 3+ years visual design experience with a focus on working in cross functional teams

3. Some UX design experience, from working in an agency or within an organization's UX team, preferred

4. Conceptual thinker with ability to take direction from written or spoken ideas and convert them into creative images, print and/or digital layouts, infographics, and other types of print and digital designs

5. Ability to collaborate with marketing, development, and other team members, i.e., marketing director, copywriter, production manager, photographer, etc.

6. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including AfterEffects, and Microsoft Office software

7. Demonstrable proficiency with UX software in design and prototyping software (Adobe XD, Figma, or other tools)

8. Able to apply understanding of visual design principles, especially typography, color, iconography, and information hierarchy

9. Ability to follow branding guidelines to ensure that visual assets across all media are consistent with JAMA Network and AMA brand identities and standards

10. Discipline and ability to self-organize on tasks and projects, regardless of the selected delivery methodology

11. Ability to communicate about design in a clear and effective manner; able to confidently present work to team during reviews, and able to incorporate feedback gracefully

12. Diplomatic and professional presence and demeanor
