Visual Communications and Production Designer
Job Description
Communication Designers tactically contribute to design at varying stages of discovery, development, and delivery in collaboration with peers and stakeholders.
While able to work independently, they take direction from senior designers and their broader team. They are responsible for detailed design execution of presentations, press releases, documentation, concept synthesis, and client communications. They engage across disciplines, engaging with business, technology, marketing, and the broader experience design practice.
Major Duties
- Work closely with internal business and marketing teams to produce a variety of design touchpoints that support product communication and promotional efforts.
- Provide creative solutions for internal and external communication initiatives such as client email campaigns, video tutorials, PowerPoint templates, product guides, sales materials and announcements.
- Design across multiple print and digital channels including social media, PPT presentations, trade shows & event collateral.
- Work within processes established by experience design and marketing leadership, including established brand and sub-branding guidelines, maintaining consistency and cohesion across channels and platforms.
- Collaborate with marketing and experience design teams to validate work.
- Demonstrate effective communication and presentation skills, through storytelling and persuasion.
- Gather and synthesize feedback and make informed decisions.
Ensure deliverables are accessible (WCAG 2.1) and responsive.
Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to synthesize complex ideas and turn them into simple, engaging visualizations
- Possess strong conceptual thinking, understanding typography, image making and layout skills
- Working familiarity with production tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, MS Office and email marketing tools, and making effective use of collaborative/communication tools
- Have experience in managing vendors/production partners, from briefing to hand-off
- Be highly flexible, adaptable to change, and comfortable with ambiguity
- Clear growth mindset, looking for opportunities to learn and motivated to approach challenges proactively
- Nice to have experience: print/production, storyboarding/writing, video, data visualizations
- Nice to have experience or training in human-centered design
Experience Required
- 3+ years professional work experience delivering digital communications artifacts
- Educated in design or related field, formally or though comparable training
- Design and communications best practices, as demonstrated in a portfolio of professional work.
