Visual Designer
Job Description
Riot Visual Designers create the best user experiences and artifacts through their knowledge of systemic design, graphic design, layout, typography, color theory, illustration, and accessibility standards. Designers collaborate with teams across Riot as both artistic and design problem solvers. They understand users and ask questions about the message, audience, and ultimate goal when solving for a communication challenge.
As a Visual Designer on the Instructional Design: Shared Services team, you will partner with stakeholders, SMEs, and Instructional Designers to create logos, presentations, data visualization, and other assets that not only present a clear message but tell a compelling visual story. You understand the importance of established templates, but know sometimes it's better to color outside the lines. You create visual elements for projects, seek feedback, understand how to manage timelines, and keep partners aware of your status. You will report to the Manager, Learning and Development.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with customers, conduct intake interviews for new projects, and ask the right questions to ensure that requirements are understood and scoped
- Design original graphics with unique colors, shapes, and typography fonts
- Refining the output of paint and hand-draw applications by using visual design software
- Enhance digital images, including the application of contrasts and gradients
- Submit visual design concepts for brainstorming and approval in a timely manner
- Meet with the project team for feedback and editing designs, when required
- Take complex projects and create a roadmap for execution
- Contribute to the development of efficient team practices
- An awareness of maintaining thematic cohesion between Riot University and Central Learning materials and other Riot assets
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of professional experience as a Visual Designer
- Experience working in Branding, Graphic Design, Presentation Design, or Digital Products
- Expert in Adobe Creative Suite and Google Slides
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Adobe After Effects and ability to create simple animations (or equal proficiency in similar tool)
- Basic knowledge of storyboarding and video creation in software such as Vyond
- We will review your work as a part of the application process, so please provide a portfolio with your application.
- For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and choices that focus on your fellow Rioters, who are the customers of your work. Being a dedicated fan of games is not necessary for this position!
