Visual Designer

The Product team uses creativity, insights, and operational excellence to steer our product vision across Snap Inc. We're looking for a Visual Designer to join Snap Inc. In this role, you will work on an exciting portfolio of projects ranging from emerging 3D and AR technology to iconography systems across our applications. You will work closely with design systems, product design, engineering, and other artists to build world class experiences for Snapchatters. You will inspire the team and the company with your vision for the future of the product experience, and you will help lead visual strategy and define principles and systems that help connect innovative product design with our engaging and playful brand. You will architect large, ambitious, and often ambiguous, design projects that will set precedent for the rest of the company.
What you'll do:

• Support advanced animations and 3D production across all of Snap
• Create beautiful 3D illustrations/visual designs
• Design 2D art assets for both illustrations and product UI
• Provide various visual concepts and art direction for both 2D and 3D design
• Partner with design systems to evolve the look and feel of Snapchat products
• Seek out and utilize emerging technologies to scale our Visual Design team
• Build strong relationships with leadership, product, engineering and design and play a strong role in influencing overall product direction

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

• Capable of 3D modeling, animations and simple rigging
• Ability to switch between 2D and 3D design effectively
• Understanding of 2D and 3D production pipeline -including the technical limitations, requirements, etc
• Experience working closely in a production environment as a 3D modeler and animator
• Strong knowledge in 2D, strong art and design background, keen eye for design
• Understanding of limitations and requirements of working within apps/games; experience working closely with engineering
• Big picture thinking/keeping the end product in mind
• Experience using data to inform better design decisions
• Knowledge of product design process
• Experience working on multiple types of visual mediums

Minimum qualifications:

• BS/BA degree or equivalent years of experience
• 5+ years of design experience

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience working in AR space
• A strong portfolio showcasing your design work
• Experience using Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or other design tools
• Experience developing cohesive visual systems
• Experience designing and developing concept art
• Experience leading medium to large sized design projects through launch
• Experience developing, documenting and implementing a visual language
• Experience working with both internal and external partners
• A strong perspective on culture and popular design
• Brand / Agency design experience is a plus
• Knowledge of product strategy
• Knowledge of basic development practices

Compensation
In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
Zone A (CA, WA, NYC) :
The base salary range for this position is $175,000-$250,000 annually.
Zone B :
The base salary range for this position is $166,000-$238,000 annually.
Zone C :
The base salary range for this position is $149,000-$213,000 annually.
This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
