Job Description

The Visual Experience Designer is responsible for developing and executing impactful visual design solutions for a diverse range of interdisciplinary projects.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding for Local Project's ambition, process and culture
  • Be a proactive member of the Visual Experience Department
  • Collaborate with strategists, content developers, UX designers, creative technologists, etc. to develop original ideas
  • Visualize concepts via impactful visual experience design
  • Design, iterate and execute across a variety of interdisciplinary projects and media
  • Establish conceptual frameworks to solve complex design challenges
  • Create smart, refined and impactful visual systems
  • Push for aesthetic sophistication
  • Develop a point of view and communicate concepts and arguments to staff and leadership
  • Ensure integrity and quality of visual direction throughout all phases of a given project and esp. when translated to linear media, interactive media, and physical environments
  • Lead and/or execute and/or support from ideation through design/development, asset production and launch with the fidelity needed for effective team collaboration at each phase
  • Flag stumbling blocks and provide ideas for solutions
  • Support and mentor junior designers
  • Coordinate with project team members to clarify design dependencies (hardware and software specs, content specs, architectural specs, etc.)
  • Provide accurate time estimates
  • Meet deadlines and expectations established by project leads
  • Pursue professional development (workshops/classes/conferences)
Required Skills/Abilities

  • A design degree (graphic, interaction, communication, media design, or a related field)
  • Outstanding design skills exhibited in a diverse and impactful portfolio
  • A proven record of coming up with unique visual expressions
  • An interest for developing unprecedented solutions that actively engage audiences
  • Think strategically and conceptually to work with complex content
  • Translate narratives into visual experience design
  • Establish and work with elaborate design systems
  • Understand and execute spatial design concepts
  • Actively experiment, iterate and push conventions
  • A strong point of view on visual experience design
  • Strong typographic skills
  • A solid understanding of user-experience, interaction design as well as the workflow of time-based and interactive media
  • Experience in designing for physical spaces, animation and motion graphics is a plus!
  • An awareness of contemporary trends in technology, art and design
  • The ability to thrive in a fast paced creative environment
  • Experienced in collaborating on teams, working autonomously and taking direction from project leads
  • A highly self-motivated and ambitious work attitude
  • An empathetic nature with an open, positive mindset
  • Reliable and responsible
  • Precision, detail and solution orientation
Education/Experience

  • A design degree (graphic, interaction, media design, or a related field)
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a related field

Salary

70K to 85K Commensurate with Experience
