About the Visual Media Producer Role :


The video media producer is primarily responsible for producing external-facing videos and animations for marketing campaigns that engage OpenGov’s customers and prospects, accurately work within the constraints of the OpenGov brand, and push the boundaries to advance OpenGov as the leading govtech company. 


The role requires cross-functional and external collaboration with customers to storyboard, film, edit, and/or animate digital media assets for various applications and formats, including brand videos, product features, software demos, customer testimonials, case studies, explainer videos, sizzle reels, company culture, and shorts for mobile and desktop. The role reports to the Brand and Communications team.


Visual Media Producer Responsibilities:


• Create professional quality videos that are on brand, on target, and on message while efficiently telling a compelling story;

• Manage pre-production, production, and post-production responsibilities effectively; 

• Manage video projects from storyboarding to filming, editing, publishing, and distributing various videos across OpenGov’s digital platforms in collaboration with the Marketing team;

• Plan and perform video post-production tasks, including motion graphics and special effects.

• Travel to on-site locations, interface with, and direct customers/subjects to capture footage for customer success videos and more;

• Effectively intake, plan for/communicate around, and deliver on video projects through effective sprint planning, time management, and articulate communications to stakeholders;

• Keep current on new media trends and strategies to identify innovative ways of delivering content;


Requirements and Preferred Experience


• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Film Production, Communications, Media, or a related field or equivalent experience is preferred;

3-4+ years of experience in a video all-rounder position. Experience in corporate tech or agency is a plus;

• This person is a digital taskmaster with a high-motor and high productivity;

• Must be able to operate a variety of video and photo equipment, including cameras, audio recording devices, and lighting setups. Experience with Canon photo and video equipment is a plus;

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically After Effects and Premiere) for video editing and motion graphics/animation;

• Strong storytelling abilities, with a keen eye for detail and composition;

• Displays a command and understanding of the 12 basic Design principles that guide composition in photo, video, and animation/motion;

• Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment;

• Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines;

• Proven ability to manage and incorporate feedback from multiple project stakeholders;

• Good file management and organization practices;

• Preference for someone located in the greater Chicago area;

• Strong portfolio showcasing diverse video projects demonstrating proficiency in filming, lighting, editing, and animation. Portfolios, including examples of case studies, brand videos, and motion graphics, are a plus.
