ABOUT THE POSITION
Although we're an apparel and footwear focused company, data is central to everything we do. Columbia Sportswear's Data and Analytics (D&A) team advances and enables reporting and analytic capabilities across four global brands, a global supply chain, and 500+ geographically dispersed stores. The team is comprised of experts across data analysis and modeling, platforms and operations, engineering, data governance, analytics, and data science.
As the Senior Visualization Analyst, you will be part of a growing Enterprise Analytics organization within D&A and play a key role in crafting the path for visualization standards for the Enterprise and, in particular, for Data Science. You will use your advanced technical and artistic skills to create complex, easily consumable visualizations on top of predictive datasets, data models, and data sources. You will work with business stakeholders to understand requirements, interpret reporting, and present insights to leadership in an impactful and intuitive way. You will work with BI Developers designing and architecting data models as well as assisting in quality assurance (QA) and enhancements.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
- Interpret general business needs to create meaningful and actionable reporting with powerful visualization utilizing available datasets and models.
- Work closely with technical team (data analysts and engineers) to convert business requirements into technical data requirements for modeling into datasets/models needed for reports and visualizations. Assist with query scripts, staged table structure, and model design. Partner with BI Developers on model design and validation.
- Contribute to research and identification of advanced tooling and techniques for data science data visualization.
- Lead lunch and learns and demonstrations on analytical tools and/or concepts. Manage cross-functional knowledge shares across the organization identifying best practices, new features, and alternative uses for Power BI.
- Make recommendations on setting principles, standards and methods for visualization
- Evangelize data, tools, methods, standards and principles that increase organizational access to data and adhoc capabilities, and create easily consumable, intuitive visualizations to help stakeholders draw conclusions and drive data-informed decisions.
- Assist with managing security groups and report security. Work with Columbia Digital Technology (CDT) and Infosec in developing ABAC security protocols.

- A professional visual storyteller and data visualization expert
- An experienced translator of business needs to easily consumable solutions
- At ease creating for executive level audience
- Solutions-oriented: Solves complex problems and develops independent creative solutions based on the evaluation of multiple options.
- Able to apply independent analysis based on in-depth research and critical thinking to recommend solutions.
- A practitioner of human-centered design and UX
- An expert in Power BI, Excel, Power Point, DAX, SQL, Databricks.
- Pluses : You experiment or have working experience in Sigma or other ML-sourced visualization tools. You have a passion for data science
YOU HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field -or- work experience equivalent to a degree.
- 5-8 years of professional experience and strong competency with the various tools, systems, or procedures required to accomplish the job. (see specific job skills in "YOU ARE" section)
- Experience working in multiple data environments at scale
