Job Description
Alianza is seeking a full-time Voice/VoIP Engineer to join our technology team with responsibility for all things related to our voice platform. As a thought leader in cloud communications, Alianza is moving aggressively forward into virtualized and next-gen voice. This position works closely with other VoIP engineers and the systems engineering teams to constantly innovate and improve the Alianza platform.
Duties:
• Ensure overall availability and stability of the Alianza voice platform and network
• Design, architect, configure, and manage our next-gen voice network - Collaborate with the Systems Engineering team when needed
• Be responsible for researching and learning about new versions, features, hardware and technology advancements that will enhance VoIP deployment
• Research and recommend innovative voice solutions, develop models and plans for consolidating and virtualizing infrastructure
• Identify and proactively resolve voice infrastructure/network issues and identify and manage risks and issues as a subject matter expert for daily operational support and projects
• Own device and carrier certification projects (interop testing on new devices and carriers)
• Provide continuous evaluation of the company's voice infrastructure and initiate expansion or remediation projects to support growth and mitigate risks
Requirements
5 years of Voice, LAN/WAN experience, design and troubleshooting
• Expertise with high-performance/high-scalability telephony architecture
• Excellent understanding of all aspects of SBCs - preferably Oracle/ACME, but others welcome
• Experience with, or interest in, migrating hardware-based voice infrastructure to virtualization with automation/orchestration
• Deep understanding of VoIP/SIP technology
• Deep understanding of IPV4/IPV6, UDP/TCP, DNS, NAT, QoS
• Excellent SIP call flow debugging skills
• Experience with all modern codecs and protocols
• Hands-on experience with FreeSwitch, Asterisk, OpenSIPS or equivelant a plus
• Experience troubleshooting large scale deployment of SIP/VoIP phones and gateways (ATA/MTA, Cable Modem/ONT/ONU embedded xTA)
• Experience with IMS/xPON/AE/Packet Cable networks is favorable
• Experience deploying and operating VoIP monitoring, reporting and alerting systems.
• Linux/Unix understanding and ability to navigate through a system, look at logs, etc.
• Highly analytical and detail oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with virtualization and cloud computing
• Passion for DevOps and continuous delivery a plus
