Volume Forecast Analyst (Marketing, Sales & Service)
Job Description:
Position Summary
- This position is primarily responsible for forecasting and reporting transmission sales volumes for both short term (18 month) and long term (5 year) horizons. The role is in the Marketing, Sales, and Service (MSS) organization and is high impact and high visibility. The person in this position should have a working understanding of forecasting terminology and processes. The role is cross-functional and interfaces frequently with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance. The person in this position should have the skill and desire to work with data, spreadsheets, and systems and must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare short term (18-month S&OP) forecast via facilitating and leading monthly North America end market volume forecast update meetings with Sales leadership team, including VP of Sales.
Work with global end market sales teams to consolidate and report out monthly 18-month S&OP volume plan. - Work with global end market sales and marketing teams to consolidate and report out 5-year Business Plan volumes.
- Act as MSS lead and administrator for SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) forecasting system. Prepare and maintain forecasting templates within IBP, perform IBP transactions for product and customer maintenance, interface with IT system experts for IBP maintenance and enhancements, train associates in IBP for forecasting, document IBP forecasting processes, and identify and implement improvements, KPI measurements, etc.
- Track and analyze forecast accuracy and period to period variances.
- Organize and facilitate monthly meetings with sales and marketing associates to gather market and forecast information, and work alongside OEM sales account managers to understand and identify customer volume plan opportunities, risks, trends, and deviations.
- Provide volume variance explanations to Finance.
- Attend and participate in weekly and monthly forecast meetings with Operations and Supply Chain teams.
- Maintain and communicate forecast calendar for meetings and timing for data submissions.
- Support special analysis projects and present to MSS management.
- Attend and participate in monthly team meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business-related field of study
- A minimum of 3 years of experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication, good interpersonal skills
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel
- Familiarity with SAP
- High level of attention to detail
- High level of analytical ability and strong mathematical skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks at the same time
- Ability to work independently, self-starter
- Cultural sensitivity
- Flexibility to participate in morning or late evening conference calls due to time differences
- Ability to professionally represent Allison externally, to outside data sources and customers
- Prefer emphasis in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Management, or Supply Chain Management
- Prefer international business exposure
- Prefer knowledge of Allison products
- Prefer knowledge of Allison global customers
