VP, API Development & Integration
ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT
The VP of API Development and Integration, working at the direction of the SVP Head of Application Development and Testing, provides technical leadership for API (Application Programming Interface) and Integration Services at VyStar Credit Union. This role leads a team focused on working collaboratively with technology and business teams to deliver highly performant, secure, and efficient integration services technology for the products and channels VyStar supports. He or she works closely with the other technology areas, the Enterprise Program Management Office, and the business lines to execute and deliver technology in this critical space.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and directly manage Assistant Vice Presidents, Managers and Engineers for the products and platforms in the domain.
- Maintain strong knowledge of emerging technologies and drive innovation.
- Evaluates latest trends and innovations in API and service-based solutions and recommends solutions for the credit union. Maintain a clear command of competitive capabilities and existing and emerging technologies and vendor capabilities.
- Facilitates implementation of new features and functionality that improves service, process, or product across the credit union applications.
- Defines, designs, and organizes teams to enable effective and secure delivery of API's and integration services that enable connections between enterprise systems.
- Manages metrics and results for all related API and integration services technology
- Strong risk management mindset relative to managing risk and delivering technical tasks related to the solution e.g., breaks, defects, patches & upgrades
- Regularly communicates with Compliance, Risk, and Audit teams to facilitate risk management and incorporate compliance into design and decision-making.
- Strong talent assessment and talent management background
- Mentor team members to progress their technical and professional skills
- Build and maintain relationships with business and technology team members.
- Triage technical issues and lead teams toward solving problems
- Plan team capacity to accommodate demands.
- Build a diverse and inclusive team and culture within the organization.
- Drive down legacy technology platform footprint.
- Develop agile approach to delivery to meet business and member needs
- Coach and develop engaged leaders who are effective at carrying out the objectives of the credit union. Build a team culture and atmosphere that embraces change and is looking for continuous improvements in everything.
- Set technology strategies and objectives aligned with VyStar's strategic plan by creating a vision and mission for the function; along with the ability to convert the business strategy to technology execution.
- Evaluate key industry and technology trends and provide thought leadership. Identify opportunities to improve member and employee experience through technology and innovation.
- In collaboration with technology infrastructure, architecture, and business executives, develop and maintain VyStar's technology strategy and roadmap that supplements the overall strategy for VyStar.
- Ability to plan and direct IT efforts to improve operational efficiency and service delivery across all lines of business and technology platforms.
- Lead assigned technology executive management meetings and committees ensuring information being presented is accurate and professional.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Management/Business, Computer Science, or related field. MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in information technology leadership, with at least 5 years managing in a production IT environment managing enterprise IT infrastructure, hardware, hosting service and network areas.
- 5+ years of experience with cross- and omni-channel technologies, API and micro services development, and modernized technology stacks.
- 5+ years of relevant experience within the financial services industry preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to "think big" and challenge conventional wisdom regarding technology
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business and technical groups including ability to share knowledge, resolve conflict and build consensus among many stakeholders Broad, in-depth working knowledge of various business components and understand dependencies and linkages of major business processes, products, systems, networks, etc. Willingness and ability to fulfill the role of teacher, mentor, and coach
- Positive outlook, strong work ethic, and responsiveness to internal and external customers and contacts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong project management and organization skills
- Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to take principled bets on new technology Ability to establish, implement, and enforce appropriate IT standards to meet business requirements
- A solid understanding of the financial services industry and the laws and regulations that govern and/or impact the credit union is a plus.
- A high level of interpersonal skills and social sensitivity are required. The candidate interacts with employees on all levels of the organization. The candidate is a resource to the organization and must be an effective listener and communicator. The candidate must set the example in attitude, behavior, and work ethic.
Computer Skills
- Advanced knowledge of high-level system designs, design patterns, software architecture, systems integration concepts and frameworks
- Demonstrated experience with modern enterprise software development
- Base knowledge networking, computing platform, storage, database, security, middleware, network and systems management, and related infrastructure technologies and practices
- Experience with Microsoft Visio, Project, Power Point, Excel, SharePoint
- Deep knowledge of API design and construction, microservices architecture and orchestration.
