What you will be doing
JOB SUMMARY:
As the VP of Brand Strategy, in this newly created role you will lead and manage work related to brand strategy, brand architecture, naming, and messaging for AmerisourceBergen. Reporting into the SVP, Global Brand and Customer Experience, this leadership position is on the Brand and Customer Experience team and is focused on elevating and strengthening our global brand. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a cohesive branding strategy, comprising Brand elements such as identity management, global brand positioning/messaging and brand transformation, in order to build a consistent brand. You will work collaboratively with Business Marketing team(s) on value propositions and brand narratives for our priority areas to ensure alignment to business marketing and commercial goals. The role requires an original thinker and strong brand strategist who can bring new ideas to the enterprise, collaborate across multiple global functions and with our business partners, and flawlessly execute on multiple priority projects.
This role will be responsible for high priority brand strategy projects that align our brand vision throughout the company; championing brand awareness and advocacy.

*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strengthen and drive global brand identity, positioning and promotion
- Defining and overseeing our brand architecture work
- Collaboratively managing our purpose and guiding principles work
- Developing an updated and simplified messaging strategy across our global master brand
- Providing strategic recommendations on key enterprise initiatives such as new product launches, product naming, and other large-scale projects
- Interfacing regularly with internal and external partners, including strategic agency partners, to ensure that plans support enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and align to core Brand platform (Purpose, Guiding Principles, Brand standards and guidelines, Brand positioning and tone of voice)
- Define, refine, steward and continually innovate a compelling brand positioning and roadmap that inspires and clarifies who we are, what we do and our impact on global health
- Understands the importance of developing the brand strategy based on the business strategy while considering the practicalities of the business
- In partnership with business marketing teams, develop a "future-proof" brand architecture, including a sub-brand, product, capabilities and services nomenclature system to drive business outcomes, internal consistency, customer clarity and to account for future organic and inorganic growth
- Leverage creative, strategic and analytic resources and knowledge to drive brand growth and success
- Build and maintain a modern methodology for measuring brand health, tracking the ROI of brand initiatives, evaluating metrics and contextualizing brand health strengths and weaknesses to adjust brand strategy
- Partner with our research team to design and execute quantitative and qualitative audience research in service of brand strategy and understanding our competition
- Partner with Communications and Public Relations teams to innovate and create campaigns and strategies to drive awareness, consideration and reputation
- Serve as a thought leader within the organization, partnering with teams across the company to provide clear decisions and guidance on brand needs and application
- Lead strategic work with key agency partners
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
What your background should look like
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of demonstrated experience in marketing strategy, branding, research and insights strategy, or planning roles
- Experience with brand/marketing strategy in large B2C and/or B2B with messaging to multiple target groups
- Expertise of brand purpose and aligning values and purpose with commercial objectives
- Experience working with matrixed global brands and multi-division organizations with separate target audiences for each business unit
- Experience leading agencies and creative resources (internal/external)
- Experience in leveraging data and research to inform strategy and execution
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with day-to-day bias for action and hands on work
- Ability to influence in a matrixed environment and present decisive recommendations
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Persuasive storyteller and original thinker
- Highly adaptable and fluid, able to quickly learn about new businesses and customer segments
- Executive presence to inspire confidence with internal and external constituents
- Desire to work in a way that requires balancing educating others on brand concepts, building consensus across different teams and leading with decisiveness
- Desire to help evolve organizational thinking about AB brand to be top of mind for leadership and all employees
- Knowledge of the creative campaign and media process
