THE ROLE: VP Brand Strategy

Reporting to the CRO, the VP Brand Strategy will serve as a key member of the Brand Impact Group Leadership Team (BIG LT) by leading base business initiatives, innovation strategy and setting learning agendas in order to deliver against company growth objectives in the supplement category and beyond. They will oversee a growing ten-person team of insights experts, data analysts and brand strategists and be responsible for crafting a multi-year strategy to grow OLLY in support of our brand purpose while simultaneously leading the cross-functional business unit team to execute the operating plan. This role will also partner closely with the Sales Strategy team to support customer-level growth.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Lead the Brand Strategy Team, developing talent, creating and optimizing processes and building the organizational infrastructure to support a $1B brand
Manage the cross-functional business unit team of directors, ensuring business is on track to meet OKRs, resources are appropriately deployed and plans are optimized to adjust to a dynamic environment
Partner with the BIG LT to create and deliver against OKRs, including managing against revenue and profit targets while cultivating an inclusive environment reflective of our company values
Lead multi-year innovation strategy from ideation through commercialization, delivering on profitability, sustainability and top line targets
Collaborate with Sales Strategy team to create compelling brand and category stories to expand distribution and secure new item sell-in, attending key customer Top 2 Tops as relevant
Lead learning agenda development – from leveraging MMM learnings in order to optimize budget to identifying underserved communities to adjust go-forward strategies – in order to meet both short and long-term objectives
Partner with BIG LT to create cohesive, purpose-driven 360 support plans for new items, base business growth and strategic pulse periods that generate consumer trial, repeat and loyalty
Ensure OLLY is leading growth in key VMS segments – Sleep, Mood, Digestive Health, Beauty, Kids, Immunity, etc. by deploying effective base business strategies to drive HHP gains, repeat growth and foster brand advocacy
Influence the 3yr Plan by building cohesive action plans to effectively defend against competitive threats, fuel key growth accelerators and step change the business
 
THE CANDIDATE

You have 15-20 years of brand management experience in the CPG industry, ideally in the Supplements space. You’ve led cross-functional teams, managed complex strategic initiatives and executed operating plans to deliver on financial objectives. You have a passion for brand building, love working in dynamic environments, embrace ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial culture. You are a self-starter, data-driven strategist and never afraid to challenge the status quo. This role reports into the CRO and will lead a team a team of 9 (5 direct reports) while also running a cross-functional business unit team of 10+ directors responsible for the execution of the annual operating plan.

CAPABILITIES + SKILLS REQUIRED

 

15-20 years of total Brand Management experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (consumables)
An inclusive leader with strong communication skills, a passion for team development and a high degree of comfort in giving and receiving constructive feedback
Robust analytical skills with experience in driving the P&L and successfully leading cross-functional teams through challenging business environments
Expert storyteller with the ability to translate data into insights and distill disparate learnings into cohesive plans to drive the business – capitalizing on opportunities and mitigating threats
Deep experience with product innovation – from blue sky brainstorming to formulation of effective go-to-market strategies and execution of in-market optimizations
Knowledge and experience in working with all mass trade channels (Grocery, Drug, Mass, Natural, Specialty, E-Commerce) and securing alignment from buyers in customer meetings
Ability to build consensus across departments with a passion for problem-solving, collaboration, digging into the details and rolling up sleeves to make things happen
Sharp organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and thrive in a dynamic, deadline driven environment

  • Round 2: 2-3 conversations with team or cross functional Ollies

THE DETAILS

LOCATION: San Francisco, CA – priority will be given to local candidates; relocation expenses provided

HOURS: full time, exempt (salary)

MANAGER: Chief Revenue Officer

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

The pay range for this position is $205,000- $235,000 dependent on experience. This position is bonus eligible and Long-Term Incentive eligible.​
