Job Summary:
The VP, National Category Development is a business development role focused on developing deep client and agency strategy relationships. The intent is to open new revenue channels and grow spend from existing key advertising categories. This role requires an extensive understanding of the agency strategy and planning process, some key client relationships, and strong marketing experience in the automotive vertical. This role will be deployed against specific brands, and key vertical targets, working alongside our national and regional sales teams to fill relationship gaps in coverage.
- Promote our scalable solutions for clients so they can increase their advertising expenditures with Clear Channel’s Traditional Outdoor products.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by facilitating all aspects of the customer's account in cooperation with Creative, Operations, Marketing, data, and Finance staff.
- Generate plans to define business strategies and tactics, and support clients with advertising programs on national and local/regional channels.
- Exceed revenue growth targets, on annual basis for key verticals.
- Identify incremental opportunities for CCO within existing auto customer base.
- Navigate senior level direct client and agency client leads to secure business meetings on revenue opportunities for CCO.
- Leverage tools and resources to identify and connect with qualified prospects for CCO.
- Utilize CRM system and manage sales pipeline to provide visibility to colleagues and management.
- Other projects and opportunities as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, experience, or military experience.
Work Experience
- Four (4) + years of senior level direct client marketing experience in the automotive vertical.
- Progressive sales experience and success using consultative, customer needs analysis methods.
- Media sales experience in auto, and Detroit market preferred.
Skills
- Proven ability to consistently generate new business -- identifying qualified prospects, securing meetings, conducting effective CNAs, uncovering opportunities, and shepherding them through closing and on to renewal.
- Demonstrated track record of driving growth.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and social media platforms.

- Presentation Skills: Effective presentation skills inside and outside an organization; commands attention and can manage group process during the presentation.
- Strategic Sales Planning: Identifying and developing business opportunities that are consistent with the long-term strategic plans of the organization.
 Other Requirements
- Able to travel outside of the office at least 50% of the time for meetings and industry events.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
