Job Description

The VP & CFO, Payments is responsible for performing financial planning, oversight and strategic direction of the Payments segment of Deluxe. This role works with senior executives throughout the organization to establish financial and strategic goals to meet segment objectives. The VP & CFO, Payments drives key finance functions and identifies opportunities for financial improvement to ensure business commitments are met. This role develops plans for optimizing the organization, function, and talent required for executive strategies. They perform a key leadership role in coaching, developing, and retaining a strong, high-functioning team of financial analysts to support the Payments organization.
  • Provide financial leadership to influence decisions by providing counsel and support to business teams and functions by connecting results with financial analysis, KPI management, and linkage back to the P&Ls
  • Develop, drive, and attain the annual operating plan and monthly forecasts with insightful analysis and collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Product Development, and other key cross-functional teams in a matrix environment to deliver strategic and financial commitments
  • Provide coaching and development to a team of finance analysts/managers to ensure partnership with segment leaders and other areas of finance, accuracy, and timeliness of analysis and forecasts, continuous improvement, and compliance to Deluxe policies
  • Improve and develop processes to ensure the best methodologies are utilized and ensure compliance with Deluxe policies
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop and recommend long-range strategic and tactical plans to create value through improved margins and revenue growth.
  • Work with external parties/partners and perform due diligence on potential partnership and acquisition targets
  • Develop and present presentations to CEO & ELT, with possible exposure to Board of Directors


Basic Qualifications:

Education and experience:

Bachelors in Finance/Accounting or related degree with 10 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and experience:

Masters in business administration and/or CPA

FinTech/Payments experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others and to collaborate in a matrixed organization cross functionally to drive outcomes
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative and cross-functional environment that is results-driven
  • Strong communicator, including written and presentation skills
  • Sound analytical and critical thinking skills with a strategic mindset, with the ability to identify key business levers and knowing when to pull the levers
  • Experience working across sales, marketing, and product management teams and processes
  • Coach, retain, and grow top talent to develop a strong and highly functioning, responsive team
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with ability to establish trust and credibility and influence key stakeholders across various lines of business and functions
  • Good understanding of lean/agile ways of working
