VP, Chief Architect

We’re seeking an experienced Chief Architect to lead the architectural design of a robust, scalable, and secure technology platform.  The Chief Architect is a vice president level role. You will be responsible for defining the architectural vision, prioritizing technology investments, and sponsoring growth of a high-performing architecture team. You will report to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and work with VP’s of engineering, developers, product, business intelligence, security and Information Technology (IT) teams. Your expertise in Software as a Service (SaaS) architecture, deep knowledge of cloud tech, and competencies in creating a strategic vision, will be the moving force of BambooHR’s technology transformation.  

Essential Job Duties

• Lead architecture modernization initiatives that deliver robust, secure, and scalable systems.
• Make architectural decisions that balance short-term project goals with the overarching architecture vision and strategy.
• Oversee the design, implementation and integration of new technologies into existing data structures and systems that support application development and business intelligence/analytics.
• Establish and enforce architectural standards, policies, and best practices. 
• Sponsor growth of a team of high-performing architects, cultivating innovation, continual improvement, and goal achievement through collaboration.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and product management to sustain alignment between architecture, technical solutions, and business requirements.
• Ensure architecture design is compliant with industry standards and regulations related to data privacy and security.

What You Need to Get the Job Done 

• Proven experience (10+ years) in an architecture leadership role within a SaaS or computer technology company.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related major or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and containerization, configuration management and orchestration technologies, large data sets, and utilizing relational databases and warehouses.
• Demonstrated leadership in guiding and motivating architecture teams.
• Strong executive level verbal, visual, and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate architecture vision, strategies, decisions, and implications to a variety of audiences.
