The Position

The VP, Corporate Controller is responsible for leading the accounting team and overseeing accounting, tax, payroll, and financial reporting processes.  This role works strategically and collaboratively across company-wide functional teams including in particular finance, systems, delivery, development, and legal. This leader will be instrumental in supporting OneEnergy’s growth by continuing to proactively enhance systems and processes to scale the accounting function.   

Responsibilities

        Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting.  Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.

        Manage external auditors and tax counsel relationships and work product.

        Continually assess and enhance internal controls and processes surrounding financial reporting and accounting.

        Hire, train and retain skilled accounting staff.

        Maintain accounting system, banking, and payroll vendor relationships, including managing the software platform for each.

        Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.  Ensure timely and accurate reporting for all legal LLCs by state. Lead and ensure timely annual audit and tax deadlines are met and all states where we hold economic nexus.

        Oversee processing of bi-monthly payroll through third-party provider and administration of 401k submissions. Central point of contact for payroll-related changes and issues.

        Provide input into cash forecasting and preparation of annual GAAP budget.

        Create and foster continuous improvement between internal teams.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

        Superior leadership and people management experience with proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members.

        Strong GAAP accounting knowledge and understanding, with proven ability to apply complex GAAP rules.

        Passion for utilizing technology to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of department’s work product.  Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software implementations and managing relationships with software vendors. Advanced knowledge of accounting software.

        Skilled at meeting tight deadlines and prioritizing critical objectives while maintaining high accuracy and organization.

        Highly motivated, results-oriented, self-starter, quick learner, and possesses a strong sense of ownership.

        Strong attention to detail with a high level of integrity and organizational capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

        Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.

        Growth mindset with a curiosity to learn new skills and readily tackle complex new assignments.  Ability to thrive and manage change in a fast-growing company.

Qualifications

        Active CPA license required.

        10+ years of related accounting experience, with a minimum of 5 years management experience.  Big 4 public accounting experience preferred.

        Experience with Intaact, Sage, Netsuite or other accounting software.  Experience with Salesforce is a plus.

        Experience in the renewable energy industry is a big plus; real estate development or construction project cost accounting is also a plus.

        Demonstrated qualities of integrity, credibility, and fiduciary responsibility.

OneEnergy’s compensation packages are dependent on an array of factors including, but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, geographic location, and other organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the salary for this role is $160,000-$250,000. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of this range. In addition, we provide generous Paid Time Off (six weeks/year) and an impactful Volunteer Time Off Program.
