The Job

Own is looking for a highly accomplished and visionary Vice President of Corporate Development. Reporting directly to our CFO, this key leadership role requires a unique blend of experience in both the public and startup sectors, with a proven track record of identifying strategic deals and successfully executing post-merger integrations.

Your Day-to-Day Role
  • Strategic Deal Identification: Identify and evaluate potential strategic opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and investments, aligned with the company's growth objectives. Conduct comprehensive market analysis, financial modeling, and due diligence to assess potential deals.
  • Deal Execution: Lead end-to-end deal execution, including deal structuring, negotiation, and deal documentation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, and operations, to ensure smooth deal processes and timely completion.
  • Post-Merger Integration: Develop and implement effective integration strategies for successful post-merger integration of acquired companies. Drive synergies, optimize operational efficiencies, and facilitate cultural alignment to maximize the value of acquired assets.
  • Corporate Development Strategy: Work closely with executive leadership to develop and refine the corporate development strategy, aligning it with the company's long-term vision and growth objectives. Provide insights and recommendations on industry trends, competitive landscapes, and potential growth opportunities.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including industry partners, venture capital firms, investment banks, and potential targets. Represent the company in negotiations and maintain a network of contacts for future business development opportunities.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a high-performing corporate development team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to team members, enabling their growth and success.
Your Work Experience
  • Prior Experience: A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or related fields. Demonstrated experience in identifying strategic deals and successfully executing post-merger integrations, preferably within the SaaS or technology industry.
  • Mix of Public and Startup Experience: A solid background that combines experience in both publicly traded companies and startup environments, enabling an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in each context.
  • Strategic Thinking: Proven ability to think strategically and analyze complex business situations. A track record of driving and executing successful corporate development strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, coupled with a deep understanding of financial statements, capital structures, and deal financial analysis. Proficiency in assessing the financial viability and potential returns of investment opportunities.
  • Relationship Building: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and nurture relationships with external stakeholders. Experience negotiating deals and working with diverse teams to achieve common objectives.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Demonstrated experience leading and managing high-performing teams. Proven ability to inspire, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Adaptability and Agility: Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, navigating ambiguity, and driving results in a rapidly evolving industry.
Important Details

This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will work out of our Englewood Cliffs, NJ office a minimum of 3 days per week to maximize collaboration and interaction with the business. Travel may be required.
