THE ROLE 

This functional leader oversees client engagement through the digital eCommerce journey and manages the teams that help our clients navigate the discovery and purchase processes. They oversee the digital merchandising, marketing, and client support functions for our Marketplace offering - managing both an internal team and external agencies and consultants.  This role will be the catalyst for making sure new and noteworthy property on the Marketplace is being fully leveraged in all marketing channels as well as debriefing business owners on performance and insights through reporting and analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategically drive marketing activities across channels and platforms in partnership with Category Management teams and other members of the broader Marketing organization. 
  • Identify trends and utilize that data to improve marketing performance and overall digital presence.
  • Lead our client-facing Concierge Support teams, driving best-in-class customer purchasing solutions
  • Oversee in-house and external creative teams, managing the content calendar in a manner that supports the inventory that is being onboarded while taking into account past performance
  • Partner with the Business Intelligence team to maintain and regularly share cross-channel performance dashboards, showing progress against key metrics and analysis of traffic, inventory, and sales trends.
  • Oversee digital platforms for inventory ingestion and management, as well as algorithmic merchandising, search, and sort for the website
  • Advise the Product & Tech teams on business requirements related to our eCommerce tech stack, assisting in the prioritization of development initiatives
  • Deliver sustainable audience growth across all categories through optimized paid digital marketing campaigns that drive awareness and conversions
  • Manage the execution of email campaigns and content for the Marketplace business, including dedicated emails, trigger campaigns and inclusion within Sotheby’s newsletters. 
  • Partner with Press, Social, and Communications teams to amplify marketing campaigns 
  • Provide actionable insights to Category Management teams on how marketing efforts are driving performance for their businesses, with recommendations on optimizations & enhancements.
  • Use data to strategically plan & implement improvements to the customer lifecycle, increasing both new buyer acquisition & repeat customer performance.
  • Partner with the Tech teams to investigate, evaluate, and implement new and innovative client outreach and support solutions

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • 10+ years working in Ecommerce management, with a preference for a focus on digital merchandising, content, and email marketing. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic direction and successfully execute plans to drive business performance and category goals.
  • Experience with large complex data sets and data analytics tools
  • Successful history of agency management and budget oversight with a focus on data-driven decision making
  • Strong coaching and people leadership skills
  • Client-centric approach to delivering premier customer support and a luxury shopping experience
  • Empathetic collaborator with excellent analytic and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Focus on innovative technology solutions and implementing technical transformation in businesses
