Job Description
Nomad Health is searching for a VP, Engineering, who will lead the entire Engineering organization, currently across five teams. This new leader will work closely with our CTO, Principal Engineer and VP, Product, bringing deep experience in organizational scale and operational excellence. Currently, Nomad has 100+ Engineers building a marketplace technology, services and automations for end to end staffing with plans to grow the Engineering team to become the AWS for the healthcare workforce.
Responsibilities/What You Will Do
- Lead, mentor and support a highly effective team of passionate engineers fostering a high-performance culture.
- Enable a culture of creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation, and excellence while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our engineering organization.
- Partner with CTO, Product leader and Principal Engineer to build and communicate Nomad’s technology vision across the company.
- Define how technology and products will evolve ahead of business needs, and prioritize and deliver the critical changes to enable business growth.
- Create, manage, and measure OKR/KPIs that drive the business forward
- Partner with Product leadership to implement continuous improvement, deployment and testing as part of the product delivery lifecycle.
- Manage the identification, selection, design, and execution of major projects through the engineering group.Â
- Ensure that engineering standards are consistently and uniformly applied and that appropriate engineering controls are in place and functioning.
Leadership skills
- Proven ability to motivate and lead large, complex technology organizations through major periods of growth and enterprise transformation
- Strong prior results in fostering a culture of technical excellence, both as a leader and as an individual contributor
- Ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a distributed, asynchronous, international team operating in a remote-first environment
Organizational skills:Â
- Experience managing a 200+ Engineering organization across multiple time zones and cultural boundaries
- End to end responsibility for the technology organization or a major unit of the larger business that touches a) Marketplace b) Platform services and c) both B2B and B2C products
People management skills:
- Proven record of hiring Senior Directors capable of managing 60+ team sizes
- Proven record of previous reports growing to technology leaders (i.e. becoming head of Engineering or similar at new firms)Â
- Proven successful case of evolving technology organizations to best support the development of products and stage of the enterprise
Technology acumen:
- Deep knowledge of cloud-native technology infrastructure (GCP or AWS)
- Experience with scalable services-based architectures
- Well-versed in the development of consumer and B2B web and mobile applications
- Expertise in data standardization, storage, and machine learning
