Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), consisting of Corporate Strategy & Impact, Enterprise Strategic Relationships, and Futurecasting, guides the development and execution of AARP's strategy, promotes strategic decision-making across the enterprise through actionable foresights and insights, and grows the impact of enterprise strategic relationships.
The VP, Enterprise Strategy oversees the development of long-term goals and strategic plans to ensure continued successful growth and profitability; coordinates and integrates division plans with the organization's business goals and objectives. Oversees the study, analysis, and monitoring of the organization's position within the industry; recommends and pursues opportunities meant to position the organization favorably over the longer term. Communicates performance results with senior leadership; advises and recommends long-term strategies based on reviews .
Responsibilities
- Manages and leads a team of strategy directors and a strategy manager, supporting the growth and development of team members.
- Leads the development of enterprise goals and strategies and ensures alignment to annual action plans. Leads the development of strategic measures that align to the strategic goals and outcomes for the organization.
- Manages leads and matrix teams on effective strategy and execution.
- Facilitates strategic planning and alignment across the enterprise.
- Partners with the Senior Vice President, Enterprise Strategy to provide board and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) support.
- Partners with Enterprise Strategy Group leadership team to manage and improve Enterprise Strategy Group operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required; MBA or master's degree preferred
- 10+ years of related job experience; substantive knowledge of corporate strategy and strategy functions; experience leading and managing a high-performing team of experienced strategy professionals
- Strategic thinking and planning skills required with the ability to communicate strategic plans to organizational leadership team and others in a manner that supports AARP's mission and strategic position in the marketplace
- Ability to lead effectively in a matrixed environment and contribute to cross-functional efforts. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across the enterprise in an extremely complex organization. Ability to gain internal respect and build consensus from superiors, peers and subordinates.
- A desire to aggressively further goals in an innovative, collaborative manner
- Flexibility and ability to work under tight deadlines while producing high-quality deliverables
- Ability to effectively leverage company resources, including employees, at all levels to maximize the results against plan. Strong cross-functional and implementation experience in all core corporate functions. Ability to mobilize resources across all needed functions at AARP to achieve superior results via collaboration

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
