Vice President / Executive Director, Immunology
Dragonfly seeks a deeply experienced and motivated individual to lead and drive discovery of new therapies for autoimmune disease (AID) and fibrosis. The successful candidate should be familiar with the landscape of existing treatments for AID and understand their limitations, as well as be verse in cutting-edge disease biology and treatment paradigms. The individual will report to the Head of Research and support research and development of novel biologic drugs that promise to revolutionize disease treatment.
Responsibilities:
- Apply experience and expertise to lead discovery and preclinical development of TriNKETs and other biologics, for Dragonfly’s pipeline and for Pharma partners, in autoimmune disease and fibrosis
- Oversee groups of in vitro biologists and in vivo pharmacologists providing strategic, organizational and scientific leadership
- Manage, develop and inspire talented scientists at all levels
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with external (industry and academic) partners
- Coordinate preparation of and review study reports, regulatory filings and project presentations
- Assume responsibility and work collaboratively across departments, including biologics discovery, protein science, toxicology, clinical development, program management and business development, to ensure that corporate goals and timelines are met
- Communicate and align with executive team and senior personnel to devise strategies in line with company mission
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. degree in immunology, biology, or related field
- 12+ years of relevant industry experience in pharma and biotech
- Broad and deep experience in preclinical development of therapeutic antibodies or other biologics for a variety of disease areas, particularly autoimmune disease (required)
- Strong network within the scientific and medical community
- Demonstrated ability to drive assets from discovery through to IND/clinical development
- Strong understanding of immunology, as well as autoimmune and fibrotic disease biology and therapeutic landscape
- Hands-on knowledge of relevant assays, techniques, model systems and resources
- Proven track record in scientific leadership and project and team management in drug development; experience in leading projects in a matrixed organization
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to clearly articulate scientific viewpoints to diverse audiences
- Demonstrated ability to works well with others and across functions
- Self-motivatation, conscientiousness and enthusiasm about improving patients’ lives
