VP, Export Sales

Position Summary:
The Vice President- Export Sales is responsible for executing the commercial strategy and tactical plans with the US Sales Regions to ensure profitable growth and market share development. The position has primary responsibility for identifying and developing sales and marketing strategies, strategic alliances, new client relationships, and market-driven initiatives/solutions for customers and the organization. This position will provide the sales team with tools they need to proactively manage the business utilizing the latest information available in order to effectively guide their team to deliver a cohesive and standardized recap to Sales and Line Management teams. Liaise with the trade organization to set strategies and drive tactical execution.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities:
- Set commercial plans by Region to generate year-over-year increases in annual revenues.
- Ensure optimal level of sales resources to deliver the business plan on weekly basis and long-term strategy.
- Provide recaps outline current performance and corrective action plans.
- Provide Vessel Profiles / Business Plan management and corrective actions.
- Drive organizational alignment with Line Management on the sales business plan and strategy.
- Tactical execution of sales business plan.
- Proactively solicit market feedback based on Vessel Fill Factors, Customer and Commodity Trends, and Competition.
- Provide weekly visibility on vessel performance.
- Clear outlined process for target account performance and activity.
- Management of vessel performance and U.S. imbalance locations to reduce cost.
- Manage sales budgets/KPIs.
- Collaborate with Export Sales Directors and RVPs in development of Sales Pipeline.
- Ensure adherence to agreed professional sales process and annual sales productivity targets.
- Develop effective relationships with numerous external constituencies including customers and business partners. Participate actively in major industry events. Represent the company externally as appropriate to customers, strategic partners, and other parties.
- Assume "executive sponsorship" for key accounts.
- Work with internal teams to form new levels of service to the customer and increase overall market presence.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Ability to present to top management as required.
- Ability to lead commercial organization through various initiatives to achieve desired results.
- Ability to influence others who are not direct reports.
- Proven computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work under stress and tight timelines.
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities.
- Ability to work with and through others (Trade, Line, Regions, Senior Executive Management) to achieve the required outcome.
- Ability to manage time efficiently.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of industry experience, 5 years Carrier experience, and 5 years in Management capacity
