What You’ll Do:

The VP Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting will be primarily responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial results and compliance of reported results with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”), as well as the oversight of the Company’s internal control compliance.  Duties will include leading the assessment of technical accounting matters, the production of periodic financial reports, the financial consolidation process, external financial statement filings, managing annual, quarterly, and SOX audit procedures and helping drive the corporate close calendar. Must be extremely hands-on self-starter who is able to work independently.

  • Responsible for the issuance of timely, accurate and complete financial statements in compliance with GAAP, including filing of quarterly and annual reports with the Canadian Securities Exchange and the Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Work closely with Investor Relations to help create quarterly earnings releases and review external communications
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, cash management, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Lead the analysis of and conclusion on technical accounting matters; including acquisitions, consolidation, share-based compensation, leases, revenue recognition, and inventory management.
  • Perform technical accounting and accounting rules and regulation research to make recommendations regarding company policy, as well as to ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC guidelines
  • Develop, maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Direct successful implementation of new accounting guidance and requirements
  • Assess current accounting operations, offer recommendations for improvement and implementation of new processes
  • Responsible of the oversight for the development, implementation, and execution of the annual Sarbanes Oxley compliance program
  • Formulate and recommend to management and drive implementation of SOX framework including scoping, planning, and roll-out
  • Provide strong central oversight of Company’s SOX compliance to guarantee consistency and quality in compliance work across all functions and geographies
  • Assess and communicate control performance status to management on a regular basis
  • Coordinate quarterly and annual review and audit procedures and serve as the primary liaison on SOX issues with external audit firms and external consultants
  • Recruit, train, develop and retain a highly skilled accounting team
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc requests

 Who You Are:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA Required
  • Minimum 10+ years’ of progressively responsible experience in large public company, a division of a large public company and/or public accounting firms
  • Experience in working with high exposure projects and with senior leadership, as well as with Company structures with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
  • Experience with financial reporting and related software
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Results oriented, driven, hands-on leader
  • Experience with managing and working with auditors and external consultants
  • Proven ability to build, develop and retain effective teams
  • Comfort in high growth, rapidly changing business environments
  • Technical accounting skills with extensive knowledge of acquisition, consolidation, debt and stock compensation related accounting concepts
  • Proven experience with manufacturing environment and cost accounting concepts
