Job Description

Be Biopharma, Inc. is seeking an experienced Finance professional to serve as VP Operational Finance to help lead and grow Be Bio’s Finance and Accounting organization. This is a role that will report to the CEO and requires a dynamic, hands-on leader who can roll up their sleeves when needed and can lead the development and execution of Be Biopharma’s current and future FP&A strategy. Additionally, this individual will identify and lead financial systems migration/implementation and partner with all internal stakeholders as required.

This position requires a strategically minded and accomplished finance professional with a track record of delivering consistent results in dynamic, high-growth businesses.


The VP Operational Finance will be responsible and accountable for:

  • Leading, motivating, developing, and coaching a best-in-class operational finance function that is viewed as a business partner and expert on financial planning capabilities while providing guidance and assistance to other departments as needed.
  • Preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Contribute relevant financial analysis to important strategic decisions to be faced by the company including potential licensing arrangements, M&A transactions and R&D collaboration agreements.
  • Participation in senior leadership meetings and board or Audit Committee meetings, preparing and presenting relevant documents, reports and plans in a timely manner.
  • Evaluating existing operational financial processes and technologies, recommend changes for improvement and oversee implementation of new processes and technologies as identified.
  • Evaluation of current financial systems and, if required, identification of new appropriate systems, with responsibility to lead financial systems migration/implementation and partner with all internal stakeholders.


Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related area.
  • MBA and CFA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressively increasing responsibilities in financial roles, and ideally 5 years of FP&A experience. Public company experience required, and biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience building, developing and leading a high performing team in a high growth organization.
  • Brings broad overall business perspective especially about issues facing biotech and drug development companies that will allow the person to identify trends, anticipate and recognize early signs of challenges, problems or opportunities, and communicate solutions or recommendations to address them.
  • Strong leadership ability to guide and coach a team in day-to-day and long-term related activities. Someone who will embrace Be Bio’s culture and values and exhibits a high degree of integrity and ethics.
  • Self-starter with the ability to set priorities for themselves and for the team in order to meet specific deadlines in a fast paced and entrepreneurial environment. Ability to be flexible, accommodating and deal with change effectively. Ability to manage projects with participants and audience ranging from SVP to Board-level.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to identify potential accounting or reporting issues that may arise from future strategic transactions and the ability to offer insights into how they may be avoided or mitigated.
  • Strong ability to build good working relationships with cross-functional business teams.
