A Brief Summary of This Position:

Responsible for the profitable operation and growth for International Irrigation. The manager must work in a profitable lean manner while maintaining the morale and ethical standard of business conduct consistent with Valmont Industries' code of conducting business. The role will directly oversee the management teams responsible for Commercial/Sales, Engineering, Dealer Development and AgSolar functions while developing and executing the strategic business plan for the business. On a continuing basis, the manager oversees and directs the marketing of our products to ensure proper market share is developed and maintained and all products marketed are being applied in a manner consistent with their intended use. Proper design and engineering of our products must be monitored to assure they are being sold and installed on a timely basis and to the customer's satisfaction while keeping in perspective, the need for profitability and proper business ethics.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervision of team providing process support and allocation of resources within the group
  • Plan with vision and purpose to organize, lead and control the International Irrigation business.
  • Instill in the team the ability to make decisions that will help the organization reach its goals; coordinate, oversee work activities
  • Implement approved plans and help employees work effectively toward accomplishing the organizational goals
  • Evaluating and monitoring results to determine if business objectives are being met
  • Communicate pertinent information (ideas, data, and knowledge) to those who need to know
  • Motivate and inspire employees to develop their performance
  • Collaborates with division leaders and stakeholders to review status, discuss problem areas, and plan future courses of action.
  • Maintain the necessary documentation for the business functions
  • Performs human resource management functions of advising, reviewing, and evaluating employees

Other Important Details about the Role:

The incumbent reports to the Group President Global develop Irrigation and implements an annual operating plan consistent with the intent of the corporation and in accordance with corporate guidelines. With emphasis on profitability and return on investment, the manager plans, organizes and controls a business plan that not only gives a fair return to its investors but also provides fair compensation to the business' employees, insuring a safe and healthy working environment with proper staffing levels and adequate training for the job. The General Manager is responsible for developing and preserving a professional organization and company that supports and creates stability within the community where it exists.

  • Responsible for the profitable operation and growth of the Commercial Lighting business
  • Responsible for providing leadership and guidance for the employees of the business
  • Responsible for developing and executing a strategic and tactical business plan
  • Responsible for both short and long term internal operating plans and processes
  • Responsible for maintaining a morale and ethical standard of business conduct consistent with Valmont's code of doing business
  • Responsible for managerial tasks including yearly reviews and career development and progression (or bench strengthening) plans for direct reports; and requiring the same of direct reports for their reports
  • Responsible for the outcome of solutions, providing advice, guidance and assistance to staff members.
  • Responsible to work in conjunction with the Group President for the development and maintenance of the business' Annual Operating Plan

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Management or Engineering
  • Seven years of professional work experience in a mid or senior-level management position with increased levels of financial and functional responsibility
  • Previous experience developing and executing business plans; Strategic visioning and planning skills
  • The ability to travel domestically up to 25% of the time
  • Demonstrated effective communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Manufacturing acumen with exposure to lean, six sigma and modern manufacturing techniques
  • Demonstrated commercial expertise with a track record of profitable growth
  • A demonstrated leadership track record in building an engaged, high performance organization fostering collaboration in a matrix organization
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree, preferably in Business
  • Professional experience metal fabrication, steel poles.
  • Previous work experience developing and growing a business

Computer Software: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Workday, IFS, QAD

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. No travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to keyboard and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office and visit manufacturing facilities where walking on uneven ground and wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Occasional travel may be required to sites within the U. S. sites.
